While the effects of Covid-19 on patients’ lungs are well publicised, the heart frequently suffers lasting impacts too. In this episode, we look at how the disease impacts the cardiovascular system, with a leading expert in the field.
Prof Ntobeko Ntusi is a cardiologist and the Chair and Head of Medicine at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital. He is the group lead for the Cape Heart Institute’s Cardiac Imaging and Inflammation research group, which has done a variety of leading research during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this conversation, we discuss this medical interplay, specifically in African patient populations, and how it can inform our understanding and treatment.
