  • How to Handle Overwhelming Needs Where God Has Called You
    2024/09/13

Welcome back to Go When God Calls! In today’s episode, "How to Handle Overwhelming Needs Where God Has Called You," I talk about something I still find hard: feeling overwhelmed by all the needs around me. I’ve been working in Mozambique, Africa, for almost 24 years, and even though I have a lot of experience, I still struggle with not being able to fix everything.

I want to share with you how I’ve learned that my job isn’t to solve every problem but to help others learn and grow. Whether it’s making cookies to practice math or giving a whistle for security, it’s about doing what we can and trusting God to handle the rest. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember that God is always there to help us. Let’s keep trusting Him and not let our worries take over. Thanks for joining me today.

Stay tuned for exciting news about my new class, “Mission-Minded Media”, to help you use social media to share your story.

  • Interview with Melissa Lea Hughes
    2024/09/06

In this episode, we welcome Melissa, who shares her incredible journey of faith as a missionary in Wales. From fulfilling a lifelong dream to live in the UK to facing life-altering challenges, Melissa opens up about her husband's accident shortly after their move and the struggles that followed. She reflects on how a crisis of faith led her to a profound realization that life with God is both mountain tops and valleys. Through her story, she reveals how God shaped her identity and taught her that faith isn't about a pain-free life, but about overcoming challenges with Christ.

Melissa also discusses how an unexpected call to video content transformed her life. After a random TikTok post went viral with 22 million views and landed her on "The Kelly Clarkson Show", Melissa discovered a new way to spread the gospel through social media. She and Angie talk about how the modern platform of cell phones allows anyone to share their faith globally. This conversation offers inspiration on embracing challenges and using unconventional tools to fulfill God's mission.

Quote: "Mountaintop experiences are for sights and inspiration, but fruit grows in the valley." – Billy Graham

  • God Is In The Waiting
    2024/08/16

In this episode, we're diving into the idea that waiting isn't just sitting around – it's a special time where God can work in our hearts. Sometimes when we're waiting for something big, like a new job, an answer to a prayer, or a big change, it can feel hard. But in this episode, we talk about how God uses those quiet moments to grow us, teach us patience, and get us ready for what’s coming next.

I share simple ways to make the most of the waiting times, like staying grateful, trusting God's timing, and focusing on small steps we can take now. It’s all about learning to see waiting as a gift instead of something frustrating. So, if you've ever wondered what to do when life feels slow or stuck, this episode is for you!

  • Rome Was Not Built in a Day: Balancing Duty and Rest in Ministry
    2024/06/27

In this episode, I talk about something that I've been struggling with myself - finding a balance between work and rest in ministry. Recently, I faced some health issues that made me realize the importance of taking time to rest and recharge. I realized that I had been pushing myself too hard, and I needed help from others to take care of the ministry allowing myself to truly rest.

I learned that setting realistic goals and delegating tasks is crucial to avoiding burnout. We can't do everything by ourselves, and it's okay to ask for help. Also, regular exercise helps not just physically but mentally too. It's important to take care of our mental wellbeing too, not just the physical aspects.

As Christians, we're called to observe Sabbath rest, and it's essential to set aside time for rest and reflection. It's not something we should feel guilty about. God wants us to take care of ourselves so we can take care of others.

Throughout my journey, I've learned that it's okay to take things one step at a time. We won't get everything right all at once, and that's okay. It's important to celebrate small victories and keep trusting in God's timing.

Remember to take care of yourself, so you can take care of others. Thank you for listening to the Go When God Calls podcast, and I hope you found this episode helpful.
