Are you in a seemingly never-ending storm right now? God can break through the clouds. And that happens to be the story before us right now...
Notes:
Focus verse: Mark 5
A poor, helpless, hopeless woman found what she needed from Jesus.
A man of status and prestige, a respected synagogue leader
found what he needed from Jesus.
Read Mark 5:21–29
The young girl had experienced 12 years of relative happiness.
The sick woman had experienced 12 years of pain, rejection, and tears.
Jairus realized his daughter was dying and he was in a race against time.
Jairus believed Jesus could heal and save his daughter’s life with a touch.
Mark 5:23
James 1:2–3
Tests are an opportunity to grow spiritually, to learn to trust God.
Tests are not punitive but purposeful.
Many people struggle and grow impatient with the Lord.
Jesus does not ask us for our understanding of His ways or timing.
He asks for our trust.
The woman’s condition rendered her to be declared ceremonially unclean.
She was penniless as she had spent everything on doctors.
Mark 5:26
She desired a healing touch from Jesus and received it.
She took hold of what God had for her.
Read Mark 5:30–34
Read Mark 5:35–36
It was devastating for Jairus to hear, “…your daughter is dead.”
Jairus had to choose which voice to listen to.
When a loved one dies unexpectedly, we often blame ourselves.
Life and death are in the hands of God not us.
Jairus had humbled himself in coming to Jesus.
Jesus was always ready and willing to receive and bless those that came to Him.
The attitude of the individual determined Jesus’s response.
Psalm 18:25–27
Unbelief laughs at God’s word, but faith believes and receives the miracle.
Read Mark 5:41–43
To the woman who was healed Jesus said, “Daughter, be of good courage.”
We see a failure; God sees a success.
We see the past; God sees the future.
We see a woman who is an outcast, Jesus sees a daughter.
Jesus is ready to enter into your life and to change you.
