サマリー
あらすじ・解説
Han Solo: Scoundrel, Smuggler, Hero In the vast expanse of the Star Wars galaxy, few characters have captured the imagination of fans quite like Han Solo. A charismatic smuggler turned reluctant hero, Han's journey from self-serving rogue to key figure in the Rebel Alliance has become the stuff of legend. His quick wit, roguish charm, and unwavering loyalty to his friends have made him an enduring icon of popular culture. Early Life and Youth Han Solo's early life is shrouded in mystery, with much of his background pieced together from various accounts and rumors. Born on the planet Corellia approximately 32 years before the Battle of Yavin, Han grew up in a world known for its shipyards and skilled pilots. Corellia's culture, which valued independence and adventure, would shape much of Han's personality and outlook on life. Orphaned at a young age, Han was forced to fend for himself on the rough streets of Coronet City, Corellia's capital. He quickly learned the art of survival, developing the street smarts and quick thinking that would serve him well in his later career as a smuggler. During this time, Han fell in with a gang of street kids led by the ruthless Garris Shrike, who exploited the young orphans for various criminal activities. Under Shrike's tutelage, Han honed his skills as a pickpocket and confidence trickster. However, the young Solo was not content with a life of petty crime. He harbored dreams of becoming a pilot, spending countless hours in ship simulators and studying astrogation charts whenever he could. At the age of sixteen, Han managed to escape Shrike's gang, stowing away on a freighter bound for the Core Worlds. This marked the beginning of his life as a wanderer and his entry into the wider galaxy. Imperial Service and Meeting Chewbacca Seeking structure and a chance to fly, Han enlisted in the Imperial Navy. He excelled in his training, particularly in piloting, and quickly rose through the ranks. However, Han's independent nature and distaste for rigid authority soon put him at odds with his superiors. The turning point in Han's Imperial career came during a mission where he was ordered to skin a Wookiee named Chewbacca. Refusing to carry out this cruel command, Han instead chose to rescue the Wookiee. This act of defiance led to his dishonorable discharge from the Imperial Navy, but it also forged a lifelong friendship with Chewbacca, who swore a life debt to Han for saving him. Now branded as a deserter and unable to find legitimate work as a pilot, Han turned to the only option left to him – smuggling. With Chewbacca at his side, he began to build a reputation as one of the most skilled and daring smugglers in the Outer Rim. The Millennium Falcon and Life as a Smuggler Han's fortunes took a significant turn when he acquired the Millennium Falcon from his old friend and fellow smuggler, Lando Calrissian, in a game of sabacc. The Falcon, a modified YT-1300 light freighter, would become more than just a ship to Han – it was his home, his livelihood, and a symbol of his freedom. With the Falcon's speed and Han's piloting skills, the duo of Solo and Chewbacca became renowned across the galaxy. They worked for various crime lords and syndicates, including the notorious Jabba the Hutt. Han's reputation grew as he successfully completed seemingly impossible runs, including the famous Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs – a feat he would boast about for years to come. However, life as a smuggler was not without its dangers. Han and Chewie frequently found themselves in hot water, whether it was dodging Imperial patrols, outrunning rival smugglers, or trying to placate angry crime lords. It was during this time that Han developed his cynical worldview and his policy of looking out for himself first and foremost. Meeting Luke Skywalker and Entering the Rebellion Han's life took an unexpected turn when he encountered Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Mos Eisley cantina on Tatooine. Initially, Han saw the pair merely as a lucrative charter, agreeing to transport them to Alderaan for a hefty fee. Little did he know that this simple job would plunge him into the heart of the Galactic Civil War and change the course of his life forever. When they arrived at Alderaan's coordinates, they found the planet had been destroyed by the Empire's new superweapon, the Death Star. Caught in the Death Star's tractor beam, Han, along with Luke, Obi-Wan, and Chewbacca, found themselves aboard the battle station. It was here that they met Princess Leia Organa, a key figure in the Rebel Alliance. Despite his initial reluctance to get involved, Han played a crucial role in rescuing Leia from the Death Star. This marked the beginning of his gradual shift from self-serving smuggler to a key ally of the Rebel Alliance. However, true to his mercenary nature, Han initially left the Rebels after receiving his payment, claiming he had to pay off his debt to Jabba the Hutt. Yet, in a moment that...
