  • New Yorker of the Week: Amaya Papaya from Love Island (Manifestation Edition)
    2025/07/03

Okay, no, babe, we do not have Amaya from Love Island physically on this episode. She is still in the villa ironing her pajamas and finding love. But our New Yorker of the Week is spiritually Amaya Papaya, the radiant NYC force currently representing us on reality TV's most unhinged stage.

We’re obsessed. We’re inspired. We’re treating this as a manifestation episode. Amaya, call us when you're back. We love you!!

Tune in as we chat through:

    • Our most New York moments of the week

    • A full Amaya appreciation segment

    • Why she’s already entered the canon of NYC legends

She’s not on the pod (yet), but her essence is everywhere.

  • New Yorker of the Week: How Soft Power Vote Is Demystifying NYC Elections
    2025/06/19

t’s Week 2 of New Yorker of the Week: “The World’s on Fire So We’re Getting Political for a Sec” Edition

This week’s honorary New Yorkers are two legends doing the lord’s work: Melissa Sáenz Gordon and Molly Salas, co-founders of @softpowervote.

Soft Power Vote is your go-to for actually clear, non-boring, deeply researched voting guides - made for New Yorkers who want to make informed choices but don't want to have 19 tabs open about the NYC Board of Elections. Right now they’re zeroed in on the mayoral race (same), and making sure voters feel confident, not confused.

    We get into:

    • Why voting shouldn’t feel like taking the SAT
    • The absolute comedy that is Eric Adams’ public statements (funny? yes. fit to govern? absolutely not.)
    • Why local elections matter even if you’ve emotionally disassociated from the federal government
    • And how Melissa and Molly are making voting feel less like a chore and more like a power move

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by a ballot, side-eyed a mayoral press conference, or just love to hear from badass New Yorkers doing something useful — this episode’s for you.

  • New Yorker(S) of the Week: Everyone Who Showed Up in NYC (and Our Sister City LA) to Protest ICE
    2025/06/12

We’re pretty sure most of our listeners are New Yorkers—but when we first started this podcast (shoutout to the HHPL era), we had high hopes of breaking into middle America. Specifically, we imagined women with throw pillows that say things like “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my bottle of wine.” Or... wait, is that not quite it... sorry bad with expressions. You get the vibe though. That demographic.

Anyway, assuming we haven’t quite won over the wine-mom crowd yet, this episode won’t be too shocking. But if we have—hey, welcome!—just a heads-up: we’re getting a little political this week. Our New Yorker(S) of the Week are the people protesting ICE around the city right now.

And, fair warning, next week’s episode might also dip into politics. But look, the world’s kind of on fire and NYC’s got a lot going on—it would feel weird to ignore it while calling ourselves New Yorker of the Week, right?

That said, we’re still us. Still comedians. Still finding a way to be funny, light, slightly unhinged, and fully inappropriate—because that’s what you came for.

So with that: please show up for your communities. We love you, NYC. Always. <3

  • New Yorker of the Week: Meet Pidge, NYC’s Most Glamorous Pigeon
    2025/06/05

What’s more New York than a pigeon? Well… how about a pigeon living in a Soho loft with better lighting than your last apartment?

This week’s New Yorker of the Week is Pidge the Pigeon, rescued in Williamsburg by the endlessly cool and sweet Abby Jardine. The two now share a downtown apartment that can only be described as a Pigeon Paradise—think natural light, high ceilings, and a very chic perch situation.

You might be wondering: Nora, Hanna, how exactly do you interview a pigeon?
Fair question. Let’s just say, like our chat with Lola the Mets dog (see ep 1!), some things defy explanation—you’ll have to listen (and watch) to believe it. And yes, we recommend catching this one on YouTube or Spotify (because that’s a thing now!) to fully appreciate Pidge in her natural urban habitat.

From nesting beside Abby’s beside to strutting through NYC in a designer purse, Pidge is honestly living better than all of us. Abby walks us through what it really means to be a pigeon mom in New York, and trust us: it’s as delightful and surprising as it sounds.

Truly, it doesn’t get more NYC than this. Enjoy! Xx

  • New Yorker of the Week: Sheri Ciprane, Comedian, Chaos Historian, and NYC Icon
    2025/05/22

Back when we were a Sex and the City rewatch pod (RIP High Heels and Punchlines), we had the absolute joy of hosting Sheri Ciprane—one of our favorite NYC comedians and truly a gift from the gods.

Sheri’s back with us today, and this time we’re free from the shackles of SATC discourse. Instead, we get to dive deep into Sheri’s chaotic and iconic NYC history: from scamming HRC to getting maced in a road rage incident, she has quite literally seen and done it all.

We are honored, delighted, and frankly—this just makes so much sense. Sheri Ciprane IS New York(-er of the Week) and we are her fan girls through and through.

  • New Yorker of the Week: Laura Henny, Founder of The Rack Shack and Advocate for Body-Positive Bra Shopping
    2025/05/15

Today’s episode is close to our hearts — quite literally (boobs!!)
We’re joined by none other than the Bra Witch of Brooklyn herself: Laura Henny. Nestled in Bushwick, her iconic lingerie haven — The Rack Shack — is a magical space built for all boobs and all bodies.
Laura has turned bra shopping into something that feels like a dream — joyful, judgment-free, and kind of like you're on a cloud. She also has a supernatural gift: she can look at your boobs and instantly know your correct size. Don’t believe us? Hanna walked in thinking she was a 36C — Laura took one look and said, absolutely not. Consider us converted.
Tune in as the magic (and the boob-myth-busting) unfolds in today’s episode!
