The fifth, sixth, and seventh commandments of Exodus 20 are God’s way of rebuilding humanity by restoring the essential institutions of authority, life, and marriage. Misusing God’s name is less about specific words and more about dishonoring Him through our actions, while remembering the Sabbath means ceasing our own striving to trust in His finished work and provision, cultivating a posture of gratitude.

The Ten Commandments are a reflection of God’s redemptive grace and character rather than a legalistic checklist for earning favor.
