• Sunday Side Session: Hello bowl eligibility
    2024/11/24
For the first time in show history the Sunday Side Session discussed a sixth win making the Nebraska Cornhuskers bowl eligible. The fact it followed a Friday night hoops win against in-state rival Creighton only added to the celebratory nature of the weekend. So given this who better to join than 93.7 The Ticket’s Jake Sorensen to discuss both the Huskers 44-25 beatdown of Wisconsin and Nebraska’s deconstruction of the Creighton offense. Things start with football and the Nebraska offense which looked comfortable and confident on Saturday against the Badgers. What stood out to Schaefer and Sorensen on that side of the ball? Then a discussion about Nebraska’s secondary both short-term and long-term as the Huskers have issues even if Iowa seems unlikely to exploit them. Finally the two giddily discuss the strong defensive performance from the Nebraska front court against Ryan Kalkbrenner and how the Huskers move forward after a big win. • Husker247 HoopsCast: Can Huskers bounce back at Creighton?
    2024/11/20
The Husker247 HoopsCast returns on Wednesday to discuss Nebraska’s performance against Saint Mary’s, Fred Hoiberg’s thoughts ahead of the next game against Creighton and the aforementioned game against the Jays. Both Mike Schaefer and Brian Christopherson are in agreement that spurts of the game against Saint Mary’s featured some of the best play Nebraska has had on the hardwood this season. However the team couldn’t stay out of its own way long enough. Still Berke Buyuktuncel emerging as an option is a good thing going forward and Brice Williams showed he’s capable of pulling Nebraska into a game. Will that be enough against Creighton? The two debate the game and what would have to happen for the Huskers to pull a big upset in Omaha. The show finishes with a one-hit wonder for guess a random Husker hooper. Who is it this week? • Husker247 Postgame Pod: A close loss again
    2024/11/17
The Husker247 Postgame Podcast convened to discuss the latest close but not good enough loss for the Huskers after the 28-20 defeat at the hands of USC. Mike Schaefer and Michael Bruntz discussed the Huskers latest performance and started with some coaching decisions including timeout usage like the one during the fourth quarter to punt and then the lack of tacking one during the final drive which likely cost the team more opportunities at the end zone late. The two ran through Nebraska’s offense and what looked different under Dana Holgorsen and where things can still stand to improve as the Huskers finished with just 30 points and barely crept past 300 yards of total offense. Finally what has happened with Nebraska’s defense and is it time to get some younger players in on the back end as the Huskers veterans struggled in the loss.
