Welcome to The Refuge Reflectionary podcast, where we dive into the lectionary readings each week to explore the stories, wisdom, and promises woven throughout Scripture. If you're wondering, "What exactly is the Lectionary?" – think of it as a calendar of Bible passages that guides Christians and churches around the world through key parts of the Old and New Testaments across the seasons of the Christian year. It’s a rhythm that connects us to the historical church, and each reading speaks into our lives, helping us draw closer to God and understand His Word in fresh and profound ways.
In this episode, we break down what it means to follow the Lectionary and what you can expect to get out of this podcast. As you listen each day throughout the week, we'll take time to reflect on the Lectionary passages, unpack their context, and ask what they mean for us today. Our weekly rhythm will look something like this:
- Monday - an introduction to the passages we'll reflect on for the week, leading us towards our Sunday gathering
- Tuesday - on Old Testament passage, reflection, and prayer
- Wednesday - a Psalm, reflection, and prayer
- Thursday - a New Testament passage, reflection, and prayer
- Friday - a Gospel passage, reflection and prayer
- Saturday - an invitation to the practice of Sabbath rest
Whether you're listening on your way to work, during a quiet morning, or as you prepare for Sunday worship, we're glad you're here. Thanks for joining The Refuge Reflectionary. Let's journey together through the Bible, one week at a time.
