Feminism is a range of socio-political movements that aim to define and establish the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes. One of the well-known movements from these ideologies was the Suffragettes. Now the Suffragettes, were members of women’s organisations in the late 19th century and early 20th century who, under the famous banner “Votes for Women”, fought for a woman’s right to vote. Feminist movements, like #ReclaimTheStreets seen today have campaigned and continue to campaign for women's rights. In this first episode of ‘Illuminating the Fight for our Rights’, our reporter Bethany Noon looks at the effect of feminist activism has on young females in the UK.
