We hosted Dr. Pragnya Prusty on our 1st Foundation Day celebrations 🎉 Dr. Prusty answered that befittingly, "Selecting an Astronaut is a critical task and requires incredible hard work. It is a rigorous process! Out of thousands of applicants, only a handful make it out of the pool. An ideal Astronaut candidate should be the perfect human being surviving on earth, not only physically but mentally too! There are several medical and physical parameters, educational qualifications, skill sets, personality factors, traits, etc. that we look for in an Astronaut". Dr. Lau answered that befittingly, "The human quest to understand the nature of life and our place in the cosmos has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few decades. With upcoming missions and new techniques to explore alien worlds in our solar system and beyond, it seems likely that if there is other life nearby in our galaxy, then we are close to those first unique and robust detections". In this talk, Dr. Lau shared the impact of the realm of astrobiology on our thinking about the universe as well as some of the major realms of astrobiological exploration in the coming years.
