  • The Impact of Collaborating in Your 50s with Shannah Kennedy & Colleen Callander
    2022/11/13

With me today are two powerhouse women who have joined forces to create The Masterplan - Shannah Kennedy and Colleen Callander. What I love about these women is that they are in their 50s and they have embraced the power of this to collaborate and create a powerful partnership to make it count together.

Shannah and Colleen can see that people are facing burnout right now and they aim to provide the space for them to reset, refocus and reinvigorate, to create a plan their future self will thank them for. These women wholly embrace their age in a really powerful way - they believe it’s the beginning, not the end, which I think is just such an incredible message.

In our conversation, Colleen and Shannah explain how they decided to come together after a long history of professional work and friendship. They explain how this next chapter, working together on The Masterplan is a balance of working in an area they are passionate about, and having fun. Colleen and Shannah have really done the foundational work across their lifetime, which is now allowing them to pass on their wisdom in new and powerful ways.

Transformational messages and takeaways from our conversation include:

    • The secret behind making collaboration work
    • Being the best person we can be starts with self. We need to build the foundations of ourselves so we can show up for our friends, our family and our employees.
    • If we treat ourselves as elite athletes of life, then the results personally and professionally can be immense.
    • What we need to focus on to prevent burnout.
    • The importance of giving our brain a map, and how this allows us to step off the reactionary cycle.
    • Where Shannah and Colleen find their role models and inspiration

We also hear about the incredible walking adventures that Colleen and Shannah are offering as part of The Masterplan, and the opportunity these present to step into planning and living our future vision.

Everything these women are doing is so powerful in terms of enabling people to support themselves. I know you’ll leave this conversation feeling inspired and ready to commence or deepen your own transformational journey.

  • How to Make 2023 Your Game Changing Year
    2022/11/27

When I was diagnosed with cancer last year, I did a lot of reflection on how I was living my life, and what I needed to stop, start, change and continue to ensure I was living completely aligned with my values and doing things that give me joy and set my heart on fire.

But you certainly don’t need a life-threatening diagnosis to do this kind of reflection and make sure that you are aligned with that powerful vision you have for your life. The end and start of a year is an opportune time to do this. As we turn our thoughts to next year, I share some juicy insights on how to make it a game-changing year for you.

If you are going to make 2023 a game-changing year, you need to lead it, you need to own it and you need to be in control and not allow what’s going on in the world to control you.

Now is the time to get really curious and dig deep so that you can launch into 2023 with confidence and clarity. Doing this is incredibly motivating and creates enormous momentum.

I equip you with eleven points to work through, professionally and personally:

    1. How to keep an inspired mindset
    2. Emotional and behavioural flexibility
    3. How to stay anchored
    4. Refine your key message
    5. Determine your boundaries
    6. Look after you
    7. Make time for what gives you joy and makes your heart sing
    8. Identify what needs to change
    9. Cut out bad habits
    10. What do you need to say yes to?
    11. What and who do you need to say no to?

Carving out time to work through these eleven steps will provide you with a superb blueprint for a game-changing year in 2023. The more you put in, the more you put out. I have every belief in you.

Finally, I let you into a little secret! I have something new coming for you on the 4th of January 2023. I want to send you off with a huge heartfelt thanks for tuning in this year. I wish you and your family a wonderful festive season filled with love, joy and connection. Keep making it count and keep making a difference.

  • You Can't Lead Effectively, Until You Can Lead Yourself First.
    2023/01/03

I’m super excited to have you join me here for the first episode of Leading You.

As I mentioned last year I had a little secret and this was it - a new name! This new name encompasses everything that the podcast has become. It feels so aligned with the conversations I’ve been having and will be having with all the incredible guests I have lined up for you this year.

I dig deep with my guests, uncovering their road maps for success, how they’ve remained anchored through challenge and disruption, insights into their courage and resilience and how to be emotionally and behaviourally agile.

In this first episode of Leading You, I share with you why self-leadership is so important to your success now and into the future. First and foremost, you cannot lead others until you are a leader of self. But one of the hardest things to do is to lead yourself. You need to take responsibility for your language, biases and mindset - that can be really confronting.

I discuss how self-leadership is also a critical skill to have to be equipped for the future of work. I explain recent research undertaken by McKinsey Global Institute, that outlines the high-level skills that will become increasingly important as automation, AI and robotics take hold. These include:

    • Cognitive (critical thinking and mental flexibility)
    • Interpersonal (relationships and teamwork)
    • Self-leadership (self-awareness and self-management)
    • Digital (fluency and systems thinking)

I also clarify why self-leadership is not self-absorbed. Your self-leadership is the basis for all your actions. If you know what you stand for, what your values are and what the legacy you then you are equipped for success.

It is so vital to invest time into leading you. I leave you with three easy questions that give you a great checkpoint to reflect on your leadership each and every day.

My guest today is Jacklyn Osborne, the Data Strategy Executive for Bank of America. With over 15 years of experience in data governance, client data management, change delivery, and information security in the public and private sectors, Jacklyn understands the hard work and diligence required to climb the corporate ladder and the burnout that so many women experience.

In the last few years, Jacklyn has been on a self care transformation journey from being overworked and burnt out to calm, present and happy. In this episode, we’re diving into 52 Weeks of Me, Jacklyn's blog and podcast which document her self care transformation and how this journey has completely changed her life.

A recovering perfectionist, workaholic and people pleaser, Jacklyn's wellness and happiness became a top priority after reaching a point of burnout. She shares the catalyst for the idea of 52 weeks of me; three questions that an executive coach asked her which completely changed her life.

Jacklyn shares her experiences over the year performing an act of self care every week. We talk about the mindset shifts she went through and the biggest aha moments. These include:

    • Understanding that it was okay to make time for herself and that this was necessary to be the best version of herself
    • Becoming a strong leader of self enables her to be a great role model to her children and the huge team of people that she leads
    • Happiness comes from the inside and it’s vital that we make decisions for the whole self, not just focus on more money and a bigger title

  • Understanding the Cause of Self-Doubt & Turning it into Self Belief with Sas Petherick
    2023/01/15

At some point in our lives, we all experience self doubt and it shows up in different ways for everyone. That’s why understanding the root cause of our own self doubt is one of the most important steps to overcoming it.

My incredible guest today is Sas Petherick, a woman on a mission to help humans understand the root causes of self-doubt and cultivate tangible and sustainable self belief, self acceptance, self worth and self trust.

Sas is the Founder of the Self Belief School and the Self Belief Coaching Academy, having worked with hundreds of people around the world to overcome self doubt and connect to their self belief. Sas is also the host of Courage & Spice: The podcast for humans with self doubt, where she shares evidence-based resources and original proven coaching tools to teach people how to develop robust self belief.

In this episode, Sas shares the biggest game changing moment that led her to the work she’s doing now. She reflects on a time in her life when her relationship with alcohol needed a shake up and how she began facing things in her life instead of running away.

Sas shares some amazing insights into how self doubt shows up in our lives and what she has learned through her many years of experience. We talk about:

    • Why we need to slow down and reflect on what we are, where we’re going and what is meaningful to us.
    • How self doubt shows up in different ways for different people. Sas shares the 4 patterns and behaviours of self doubt: overwork, overgiving, feeling overwhelmed and overthinking.
    • Some common root causes of self belief and how the wider cultural narratives and our own “meaning making” impact our sense of self.
    • Courage enables confidence but it will always feel awful during the process. Learn to embrace the process and don’t wait to have confidence before you start doing something.

Toward the end of the episode, Sas shares some tips to help you work through self doubt, particularly if you’re an overworker or perfectionist. There is no quick fix to building confidence, but as you practise compassion and embrace imperfection, you will soon discover that your confidence has grown.

There is so much gold in what Sas shares today. I know you’re going to get so much out of this episode.
