    The Red Sox returned home to Fenway Friday night after a 2-5 Road Trip and lost 4-2 in 12 Innings to the Minnesota Twins. The Red Sox went 1-for-19 with runners in scoring position and stranded 17 runners on base. Sox are 2 Games below .500 with 8 games remaining in the Regular Season. -----Too Many K's: The Red Sox struck out a season-high 20 times (tied a franchise record) against 9 Minnesota pitchers Friday night and have struck out 10 or more times in 83 games this season (10 times with 10+ Ks in September). Tyler O'Neill struck out 4 times. Rafael Devers and Triston Casas both struck out 3 times in the loss. -----Fitts Keeps Putting Up Zero's: Richard Fitts made his 3rd Big League start and 2nd at Fenway Friday night. The 24-year-old worked 5 scoreless innings and exited with a 1-0 lead but ended up with his 3rd straight no-decision. Fitts allowed 5 Hits (all Singles). He walked 1 and struck out 3. Fitts stranded runners at 2nd & 3rd in the 4th and left 2 more on in the 5th Inning. Fitts has now worked 15.2 Innings without allowing an Earned Run over his 1st 3 Big League starts. -----Squandered Opportunity I: With the game tied at 1-1 in the Bottom of the 7th, Ceddanne Rafaela led off with a Double. It was just his 4th Extra-Base hit in the month of September. Minnesota reliever Cole Sands came back and struck out Jarren Duran, Rafael Devers, and Tyler O'Neill to leave Rafaela at 2nd. -----Squandered Opportunity II: Sox loaded up the bases with 3 straight hitters reaching with 2 outs in the 8th but Ceddanne Rafaela popped up to the 2nd-baseman for the final out. According to Baseball Reference, the Red Sox have had 103 opportunities with the bases loaded this season and still do not have a Grand Slam. -----Squandered Opportunity III: Jarren Duran led off the Bottom of the 9th with a single. He stole 2nd after Rafael Devers struck out and moved to 3rd on a wild pitch after Tyler O'Neill struck out and was left stranded at 3rd after Wilyer Abreu struck out to end the inning. Red Sox left runners at 2nd and 3rd in the 10th and again inn the 11th. -----On the Board 1st: Red Sox were held to just a single and 1 walk through the 1st 3 Innings against Twins starter, David Festa. The Red Sox put together 2 hits and a walk in the 4th and got on the board 1st with Trevor Story knocking in a run with a 2-out Single. -----1st Out of The Pen: Luis Guerrero was the 1st in from the Bullpen in the series opener. Guerrero gave up a Double and Single and had runners at 1st and 3rd with 1 out but he was able to get out of the inning without giving up the lead. Twins stranded 8 runners through the first 6 Innings against Fitts and Guerrero. -----2nd Out of the Pen: Twins tied the game up at 1-1 against Chris Martin in the 7th Inning. Byron Buxton reached with a 1-out Single, stole 2nd and ended up scorning on a fielder's choice ground out. Martin got a strikeout for the final out of the Inning and left a runner stranded. -----A Look Ahead: The Twins and Red Sox continue their 3-Game Series Saturday afternoon.     The Red Sox closed out their road trip with a 2-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Sox went 2-5 on their road trip against the Yankees and Rays. Boston had an opportunity to return home 3.0 games behind both the Twins and Tigers for the 3rd AL Wild Card spot but are 4.0 back with 9 to go. The Red Sox were held to 1 hit and were also shutout for the 7th time this season. -----Bats Remain Silent: The Red Sox managed only 1 hit (and 1 base runner) over the 1st 7 Innings against Rays starting pitcher, Zack Littell and did not have a base runner over the final 2 innings against 2 Tampa Bay Relievers. Nick Sogard reached with a 2-out Single in the 3rd Inning and was left stranded. Littell had 6 1-2-3 Innings and left the game with a 1-0 lead after 7 Innings. Littell walked no one, struck out 7 and picked up his 8th win. -----Bello's Night On The Hill: Brayan Bello gave up back-to-back singles in the 3rd Inning and Brandon Lowe knocked in the game's 1st run with a sacrifice fly.     The Red Sox avoided falling to 2 Games below .500 with a 2-1 comeback win over the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. The Red Sox are 2-4 on their current road trip that wraps up Thursday night. Sox are 76-76 with 10 games remaining in the regular season. -----Get On & Good Things Happen: Trevor Story led off the Top of the 8th Inning with an infield Single. Story stole 2nd, stole 3rd (with 1 out) and scored on an RBI Single from Jarren Duran. That gave the Red Sox their 1st lead of the game. Duran picked up just his 4th RBI in the month of September. -----The Pen: The Red Sox 5 relievers each worked a scoreless Inning in Wednesday night's 1-run win. Kenley Jansen worked a scoreless 9th Inning for his 27th save of the season and the 447th of his career. Jansen walked 2 with 2 outs in the 9th, but managed leave both runners in scoring position by getting Logan Driscoll on a strike out to end the game. -----Tanner On the Hill: Tanner Houck took the ball for the start against the Rays Wednesday night. It was his 1st outing since a road start against the Mets on September 4th. Houck struck out 2 of the 3 batters that he faced in the 1st Inning. He allowed a 2-out, run-scoring single to Tanner Walls in the 2nd Inning and that got the Rays on the board 1st. He came back and worked a 1-2-3 3rd Inning with 3 groundball outs and then escaped a 1st & 2nd jam in the 4th by getting a 5-4-3 inning-ending double play. He left after 4 Innings, 60 Pitches and the Red Sox trailing, 1-0. Houck ended up with a no-decision and is still without a winning decision since July 11 at home against the Oakland A's. #89's Final Line- 4.0 IP. 4 Hits. 1 R. 1 ER. 0 BB. 4 Ks.----- Immaculate Inning: Ryan Pepiot struck out Connor Wong, Wilyer Abreu and Triston Casas on 9 pitches in the 5th Inning. Pepiot gave up just 1 hit and struck out 10 hitters over the 1st 5 Innings. Pepiot is the 2nd pitcher with an Immaculate inning in the Majors this season (Michael Kopech with the White Sox on July 10). Pepiot ended up with a career-high 12 strikeouts over 6 Innings. -----NOT A Lot of Hits: Trevor Story tied the game at 1-1 with a Home Run to lead off the 6th Inning. It's Story's 2nd Home Run of the season. Red Sox managed only 2 hits over the 1st 6 Innings vs. Pepiot. Triston Casas led off the Top of the 3rd with a Double, but Pepiot came back and retired the next 3 batters. -----Some #'s: Red Sox are now 2-8 in Houck's last 10 outings. Tyler O'Neill led off the 7th with a walk and was left stranded. It was the only free pass worked by Red Sox hitters in the game.
