  • American Groove - #90 The Devil Wears Healthcare
    2025/01/07

We're blasting, fucking headfirst into the frustrations of modern healthcare. Let me tell you, its legit a scam. From the absurd cost of dental care, which makes no sense anymore. To the corporate greed of Big Pharma. Asking the question when did dental work start costing more than a car payment? And, don’t even get us started on the CEOs, once got murdered. Who on earth would want to be a CEO of a health insurance company.

It’s not all heavy, not going to lie it kind of is. We kinda sorta lighten the mood with a dive into the benefits of supplements. Our love-hate relationship with caffeine alternatives. Lets be hon est, coffee can be liquid "crack" in some cases. Why you need one of Karissa's candles at:

  • #212 - Interview with old rockers Jeff Niebuhr & Heath Cobb - Hecojeni
    2025/01/07

I had the pleasure to talk with Jeff Niebuhr and Heath Cobb. The duo behind underground band "Hecojeni". These guys go way back, we’re talking college days in the late 80s. Back then they where part of The Chillbumps, a band that rocked the Southeast. Life took them in completely different directions. Heath served in the Marines, including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. While Jeff built a career in corporate America, and explored solo music projects. Now, after decades apart, they’ve reunited to create music that’s raw, real, and genre-defying.

Diving head first into their journey of reconnecting, and reinventing their sound. They shared stories from their past. Like how they started collaborating after all these years. To how their life experiences have shaped the songs they’re making now. It’s a conversation about resilience mixed with creativity. Finding the kind of friendship that stands the test of time. Their website: https://hecojeni.com/

Also, their original Christmas track on: https://phonophorerecords.bandcamp.com/track/christmas-lost-today

  • American Groove - #89 Marlboro Baby Food
    2024/12/31

Man, do you remember the days when Gerber baby food handed out free engraved spoons? No? Well, get ready for a nostalgic trip into the weird and wonderful world of 90s marketing gimmicks. This week, we go down memory lane. From Gerber's silver spoons, to Marlboro's reward programs. That made you wonder if smoking could win you a computer. It's a chaotic ride of odd cultural taboos, with an added twist. Sprinkled with Karissa's thoughts on Ethan Hawke, Emma Stone acting at another level. Karissa still has Gerber baby spoon, to this day fyi.

But it’s not all nostalgia and laughs. We also dive deep into reflections on life’s struggles. From job frustrations to finding those fleeting moments of joy. Like the peace of cooking or the occasional spa day. With a dash of existential musings, and a pinch of absurdity. We bring you another unfiltered, stoner-style sesh that’s as relatable as it is ridiculous. So light one up, kick back, for the ultimate high.

  • American Groove - Broken Telephone
    2024/12/10

Oh man, this bonus episode is something special. We recorded one of our phone calls. Believe it or not, these kind of chaotic conversations, actually inspired American Groove. It’s raw, unfiltered, and full of the weird stuff we usually brainstorm off the record. Think bacon cooking experiments with clothing irons, and ranting about work. Somehow landing on why stoner-friendly candles are a must.

It’s basically the blueprint of our groove, just us. Vibing, laughing, and getting way too deep about random things. If you’ve ever wondered what our brainstorming sounds like. Obviously when no one’s “officially” listening, this is it. Oh, and quick plug please check out: https://www.velvetearthshop.com/

  • American Groove - #88 Multitasking gone Wild
    2024/12/03

We take a wild ride through the quirky corners of life. Starting with stoner cleaning rituals of course. The philosophy of multitasking while high is fascinating. Ever wonder how music like “Because I Got High” defines a generation? We went there. From the zen of stress balls to the art of juggling ridiculous deadlines. We explored how stoned minds can find some comfort.

Then things a got random as fuck. Christmas rubber ducks, and overpriced milkshakes. A passionate debate over Shake Shack versus homemade onion rings; real people problems. Toss in a dash of Target shopping adventures, and a sprinkle of workplace chaos. You've got the perfect blend of absurdity and real-life dilemmas. Finding the balance of I was at work, but then I got high. If you known what I mean, than you know, you know?

  • American Groove - #87 Martian Daydream
    2024/11/26

A journey into the center of our mind. Where absurd fucks... sorry meets random shit. We kicked off reminiscing about the simpler times of Walmart trips. How the world felt less… bankrupt n' more fun. Then, things went into space talk—Mars launches, futuristic daydreams. Whether the 1960s vibe could ever make a comeback, please.

Spoiler: we're optimistic, with a sprinkle of doubt, with a dash of what the fuck.

It’s all about cinnamon-apple cookies, childhood gaming consoles, and squishy dream drops. that sound way more risqué than intended (don’t ask). We even touched on Joe Biden's battery life (spoiler: it’s questionable). Grab a snack, light up, and get lost in the grooves of this comforting insanity. Peace, love, and cinnamon apples, Oh baby!
