In this episode we talk to Bob Maddux, a veteran, who shares his story of recovery.  So many of our veterans today are dealing with PTSD, addiction issues and ultimately choosing to end their lives.  With Bob's help we explore the issues facing our veterans and hopefully encourage them to seek the help they need to overcome issues they are facing.

Clinton Lacey is the president and CEO of the Credible Messenger Mentoring Movement (CM3), which focuses on supporting Credible Messenger Mentors who share similar life experiences with current justice-involved young people, and are poised to have transformative impact on an individual, family, community, and systemic level. Clinton is an experienced trainer, writer, and keynote speaker on such issues as racial disparity, comprehensive re-entry services, gang intervention strategies, and overall youth development. 

We originally aired this attached to episode 1 with Christopher Campbell but wanted to spotlight it again as Want To Have A Catch wraps up soon with its year long event.  Since it was not highlighted on its own, I am putting it out again as a bonus for this months non-profit spotlight.

Frank came through the California system as a child adopted into a family challenged with mental health and substance abuse issues. Raised in the East Bay area of Northern California Frank attended 9 different schools in his first 9 years. Raised in a challenging home in a challenging environment both geographically and historically, Frank has a unique perspective that translates for many of our most traumatized communities, families and children. Frank negotiated his way into the military and his first professional training was as a special warfare diver attached to the Marine Mammal program of the United States Navy where he spent 8 years honing behavior modification skills, stress management and understanding the dynamics of nonverbal communication. Later, as a stay at home dad for 2 kids and a student of psychology he became aware of and struggled with development, his own trauma exposure, and behavioral progressions and sequencing. This led to a journey of self-exploration and an academic focus on psychological trauma.
