In this episode of “Mind, Body, Spirit, Cancer,” Pat Croce welcomes Jack Cornfield, a best-selling author and psychologist who is a master in the therapeutic arts of mindfulness and meditation. Cornfield defines what it means to be in the present with kindness and emphasizes how practicing a loving awareness can bring about positive changes in your life and the lives of others. He reminds us that meditation is a way to turn suffering into a peaceful heart, a method in which one can learn to take pain and hold it in a different way, noting, “Who you are is not defined by time; who you are is awareness itself.”

During that time, Smith relates how the entire family came together to serve as caregivers, and how he was proud to be able to support her – the woman who had always supported him with unconditional love – in her time of need, noting, “As devastating as it is, you have to remember, it’s not about you until they’re gone. As long as they’re there; it’s about them.”

  • Epsiode 3: Maria Menounos
    2023/09/05
Pat Croce welcomes well-known television host, actress, and cancer survivor Maria Menounos to this episode of “Mind. Body. Spirit. Cancer.” Prior to her stage 2 neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer diagnosis, Menounos underwent treatment for a benign brain tumor and was diagnosed with type I diabetes, among other health issues. And, although her cancer was not initially diagnosed, she is thankful that it was finally found when it was and that she is alive today as a mom to her newborn daughter. In her remarks, Menounos discusses how she went from being a caregiver for her mom who was battling brain cancer, to a patient when she started to have health issues at the same time. She’s a firm believer in leading a healthy lifestyle, and a staunch proponent of being your own health advocate, stating, “We have to take control of our own health.”    Relevant Links:   - cancer.org/cancer/types/pancreatic-neuroendocrine-tumor.html   - cancer.org/cancer/types/brain-spinal-cord-tumors-adults.html   - cancer.org/dietactivity   - cancer.org/caregiverguide   - cancer.org/survivors   - cancer.org/acscares
