  • Dear Former Black Gifted Kids and Those That Let Us Sit With Them at Lunch

You are not a burned-out disappointment. You are burned out...but you are far from disappointing. You need a little pep talk, some soft love, and a framework to understand your reality. As young gifted kids, we were told that we were special and would do great things. What we weren't given were the tools needed to do so. As adults, we may feel like we haven't reached our full potential. We see others around of seemingly thriving, while we struggle with the same problems and struggle with making the same mistakes over and over again.

At the same time, we are painfully aware of the mistakes that we are making. We spend a significant amount of time beating ourselves up and holding ourselves to a standard that no one could possibly achieve. I made this talk first and foremost for me as a reminder to myself, but I also wanted to make it for my classmates.

You are doing the best you can with what you know and when you learn to love yourself you will do better. I hope that you will go on this journey with me towards stepping into our role and living our lives with intention. I will make mistakes, but I will do my best to acknowledge them as they happen.

Dear Black Former Gifted Kid and Those Who Let Us Sit With Them at The Lunch Table in Middle School, it is time for you to flex.

  • The End of My Existential Crisis

    Hello!
I have no idea who you are or what your relationship to my content has been, but I have been having a bit of an existential crisis. It is quite strange to be so famous and also live such a regular life. My existential crisis started because I continued to run into experiences that reminded me of this. It is so strange to have changed the lives of so many people while mine has remained marginally the same. And so I began a spiral of depression, confusion, instability, and passive ideation of being abducted by aliens. Thankfully, I have an amazing therapist who reminds me to ask questions and learn to sit with discomfort. If this message resonates with you and you are not a part of The SItuational Practice, please come join me over there at www.thesituationalpractice.com. Your feedback is really appreciated. Take care and talk soon.
