"Son of a Preacher Man" is a song recorded by British singer Dusty Springfield in September 1968 for the album Dusty in Memphis. It became an international hit, reaching no. 9 in the UK singles chart and no. 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 in January 1969. The album Dusty in Memphis was released in stereo, though its singles were remixed and released in mono.

"Son of a Preacher Man" was Springfield's last Top 30 hit until 1987, when her collaboration with UK synthpop duo the Pet Shop Boys yielded the huge hit "What Have I Done to Deserve This?". "Son of a Preacher Man" found a new audience when it was included on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's 1994 film Pulp Fiction; a re-release of the single reached number one in Iceland in 1995.

Hello! I'm Gail Nobles! Welcome to Multi-Tunes. Enjoy Yourself is a song released as a single in 1976 by the Jacksons. The song featured Michael and Jackie Jackson on lead vocals. The song peaked at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100 songs chart in 1977. On other US charts, it peaked at number two on the Hot Soul Singles chart and number 33 on the National Disco Action top 40 chart. In 1989, it became the group’s first single to be Certified Platinum by the RIAA in the US.

In the 70s listening to the song, if people had any worries, it wasn't that noticeable because in those days, I saw people that indeed enjoy themselves dancing when the song first came out. You didn't hear about many club shootings in the 70s. People were too busy dancing and having fun.

During the year of 1976 when the single Enjoy Yourself was released, major events include Jimmy Carter defeating incumbent president Gerald Ford in the presidential election of that year, and the Apple Computer company was founded that year by college dropouts Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

1976 was a good year for the song Enjoy Yourself. The single is credited to Philadelphia songwriters/producers Gamble and Huff.

    Intro: Gail Nobles

Today on Multi-Tunes .. gonna talk about Ollie and the Nightingales - I Got A Sure Thing.

Earlier in the show I talked about music in the 1960s. I mentioned the psychedelic songs, the peace songs, and love songs. Stax Records brought pSouthern soul and Memphis soul music with Ollie and the Nightingale. They released a number of singles according to Stack Records. But they're most successful was 1968’s "I Know I've Got a Sure Thing", a William Bell/Booker T. Jones composition which peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Black Singles chart.

In 1969, In 1969, the group released a long-playing album, Ollie & the Nightingales; "I Got a Sure Thing" was not included because Atlantic Records retained ownership of that single and all other pre-1968 Stax material after Stax severed its distribution deal with Atlantic.

Ali in the Nightingale were singing the song I've Got A Sure Thing with a lot of faith and confidence. The lead singer believe with happiness that he had a good woman. He said: I know I've got a sure thing.

  • Glen Campbell-Rhinestone Cowboy 9:26:23 10.07 PM

    Music Intro by: Gail Nobles
    Story by: Gail Nobles

When I was a child, I thought country music was made by white people. But I began to notice that black people around me loved some of the country hits in the 70s. I grew up in a world where nobody called music black or white. As I got older, I learned that black people made country music too like Charley Pride and Ray Charles.

Growing up, I remember hearing a country song by Glen Campbell titled Rhinestone Cowboy. As a child, I wasn't really into country music in the 70s that much. But I loved the country song Rhinestone Cowboy. Whenever they would advertise songs on television, I would always listen for Rhinestone Cowboy. They of course wouldn't play the song entirely, but when they played the country song on the radio, I knew it was Rhinestone Cowboy thanks to the advertising commercial. They played commercials for songs it seemed a million times a day. There was no way you could forget a song. Back then that was my MTV. Laugh if you want to. Things were different then.

Rhinestone Cowboy was released in 1975, as the lead single and title track from his album Rhinestone Cowboy. It enjoyed huge popularity with both country and pop audiences. The single certainly got my attention.

Hello! I'm Gail Nobles. You’re listening to Multi-Tunes. Tunes that talk. Today we're going to talk about the Pet Shop Boys. An English synth-pop duo formed in London in 1981. Consisting of primary vocalist Neil Tennant and keyboardist Chris Lowe, they have sold more than 50 million records worldwide, and were listed as the most successful duo in UK music history in the 1999 edition of The Guinness Book of Records.

Three-time Brit Award winners and six-time Grammy nominees, since 1984 they have achieved 42 top 30 singles, 22 of these being top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart, including four UK number ones: "West End Girls" (also number one on the US Billboard Hot 100), "It's a Sin", a synth-pop version of "Always on My Mind", and "Heart". They had other hit songs too.

My favorite is West End Girls. The song was released twice as a single. The song's lyrics are concerned with class and the pressures of inner-city life which were inspired partly by T. S. Eliot's poem The Waste Land. It was generally well received by contemporary music critics and has been frequently cited as a highlight in the duo's career.
