    2025/04/04

(Recorded on March 30, 2025) We’re back this week with episode four of the 90’s tv series Dark Shadows and we're calling this one, “Twisted Firestarter.” We pick up right where we left off in episode three—Michael’s made a life changing decision; Julia’s got her eyes on Josette’s music box; Sarah’s back and trying to get a message to Victoria; Barnabas doesn’t know how to accept a gift; Roger’s secret art studio is discovered; David plays with matches; Maggie tries to warn Victoria; and Willie fears that Angelique might harm Barnabas. Plus, George wonders if Dark Shadows might be building too big of a world; Meaghan gives Maggie some dating advice; and we reminisce about the first time we recorded this episode—it's gone, but forever in our hearts. (Original network air date January 18, 1991)

  • Did Somebody Say Stake?
    2025/03/14

Up this week is episode two of the gothic soap opera, Dark Shadows, and we're calling this one: “Did Somebody Say Stake?” In this episode, Daphne can’t escape the vampiric powers of Barnabas; Joe falls asleep on the job; Roger gets some; Professor Michael keeps something very special in his medicine bag; the Collinsport police department keeps giant crucifixes in their arsenal; and Julia has her eyes on a Nobel Prize in medicine.

Also, George finally turns on his microphone; Meaghan won’t shut up about Joe; and we question exactly how one gets turned into a vampire on this show.

  • The Nanny Diaries
    2025/03/07

(Recorded on February 23, 2025) Episode One is here! And since these episodes have no titles, we’re creating our own! We’re calling this one, “The Nanny Diaries,” because Victoria Winters, the recently hired governess at the Collinwood estate in Collinsport, Maine is providing some much need narrative context. Victoria isn’t the only new person in town, cousin Barnabas from England has also arrived, coincidentally at the same time a bunch of bad stuff starts happening! Shockingly, the police aren’t very good at putting these two things together.

Also, Meaghan and George discuss the relatively new OJ Simpson documentary on Netflix; George is blown away by a young Joseph Gordon Levitt performance; and Meaghan is tired of men’s daddy issues. (Original network air date January 13, 1991)

Each week we’ll be breaking down the episodes, sharing what we thought were the campiest moments, and of course picking our winners and losers. Join us as we break into cousin Barnabas's coffin and answer the question: Should the Dark Shadow's revival had a second season?

  • Serenity — Part Two
    2024/11/01
Up this week, we have our second and final part recapping the Firefly movie, “Serenity.” Last week we left off with Mal finally meeting the Operative and Inara coming back aboard Serenity. The group (minus River) have a house meeting, where Jayne actually makes some pretty good points about how River is a liability and can take care of herself. Mal is turned all the way up in the brooding department after Jayne says he could captain this boat better than Mal. Jayne has a botched attempt at kidnapping River (she bests him) and she is loose on the ship for all of two seconds before Mal finds her surfing AOL to find Miranda—a black-rocked planet just this side of Reaver-land. Now this is where the story takes a bit of sharp turn to ‘huh?’ territory. We lose a well-loved character; we get a convoluted backstory about the origin of Reavers; we’re supposed to believe that the Alliance cares that River knew about this deep down; we lose ANOTHER well-loved character; we get some good fight scenes; and then it just sort of ends. Of course there’s things tying all of these together but it’s all very strange. Does it make for a bad movie over all? You’ll have to listen to hear our thoughts on that. Plus, Meaghan tries to manifest the comeback of America’s Next Top Model. George wonders where his nerd-brain went. And we ask ourselves if we’d watch “Serenity: The Sequel.”
