  • Be A Buffalo
    2025/02/05

Buffalos have a unique instinct when facing storms—they don’t run away like other animals; instead, they charge directly into the storm. By doing this, they minimize their time in harsh conditions and emerge stronger on the other side. In life, we are constantly faced with challenges, and just like the buffalo, we have a choice: we can run from adversity and prolong our struggles, or we can face difficulties head-on, knowing that growth lies beyond the storm. Jill Ogle, a guest on Other People's Shoes, shares this powerful message of transformation, encouraging others to embrace life’s storms rather than run from them. Like the buffalo running into the storm, you have the power to transform your current reality into one of harmony and success. We believe in the power of synchronicity and know that you have found us for a reason. When the student is ready, the teacher appears, and your time for transformation is now. Step into the storm with courage, embrace all that you are, and watch as you emerge stronger than ever. Join me I try on Jill's sandals.

  • Happy Sixth Birthday
    2025/01/29

Welcome to a very special episode of Other People’s Shoes! Today, we’re taking a moment to celebrate six incredible years of podcasting, over 300 episodes, and countless stories that have inspired, challenged, and encouraged us all. Thank you for walking alongside me on this journey—whether you’ve been here since day one or just laced up your shoes to join the adventure.

    Reflecting on the Journey

Over the last six years, Other People’s Shoes has become more than just a podcast; it’s become a community. This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the support of so many amazing people:

My family — To my wife, Elizabeth, and our family, thank you for your endless encouragement and love. You’ve been my rock and biggest cheerleader.

Garrett — My all-in executive producer, your unwavering support and guidance have been invaluable. Thank you for keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes.

Christine, my mother-in-law — Your love and encouragement have been a steady source of strength. Thank you for believing in me and the show.

Eric Nevins — My podcast mentor, your wisdom and insights have shaped so much of what this podcast has become. I’m so grateful for your guidance.

Sean McCoy, Adria Wilkins, and Jodi Howe — Incredible friends who have shared your support and encouragement at every step. Your kindness means the world to me. With hearts of gold, your birthday greetings and on going encouragement inspire me to keep going.

Jessica Lewis, Ally Murphy, my voice gals, Neil Getzlow, Rodney Olsen, James Early, Jennifer Sakata, Judi Meriam, Megan Newkirk, Kim Patton, and Alex from Podmatch — Your contributions, support, and friendship have made such a difference in this journey. Thank you for being part of the story.

So many other friends — To everyone who stopped by to give a birthday greeting, your words remind me why I continue this journey.

The Real Reason I Keep Moving Forward

This podcast has always been about progress—slow and steady, just like the tortoise in the fable of the tortoise and the hare. The journey hasn’t always been fast or easy, but it’s been consistent and meaningful. Every story shared, every lesson learned, and every listener touched fuels my determination to keep going. It’s not about the race; it’s about the journey.

    A Big Announcement

Stay tuned until the end of the episode because we’re closing out with an exciting surprise announcement! I promise you won’t want to miss it.

    Join the Celebration

I’d love to hear from YOU! What’s been your favorite episode or takeaway from the past six years? Feel free to share your thoughts, and let’s celebrate together.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to the next chapter of Other People’s Shoes! Let’s keep walking together, one story at a time.

  • Knocking On Doors
    2025/01/22

Imagine this for a moment: it’s Saturday afternoon. The week has been long, and you’ve finally carved out some time for yourself. You’re in your favorite cozy spot in the living room—maybe it’s the couch that perfectly hugs you or that recliner that’s seen better days but feels just right. You’ve got the TV on, ready to catch up on your favorite show, and for a moment, everything feels perfect.

    💠

    And then it happens.

Alexa’s voice cuts through your peaceful bubble: “Someone is at the front door.”

    💠

Annoyed, you groan, thinking, “Who could it be now?” Maybe it’s a neighbor, or worse—a salesperson. You grudgingly get up, annoyed at the interruption. You’re already rehearsing your response in your head: “No, I’m not interested. I don’t care what you’re selling!”

    💠

As you peek out the window, you realize it’s not a salesperson. It’s worse.

    💠

Standing there are two people with smiles too wide for comfort, clutching those unmistakable pamphlets. You mutter to yourself, “Jehovah’s Witnesses. Great.” Your mind flashes to Sam from work—you know, the one who’s always leaving those flyers around the breakroom. You can’t help but roll your eyes.

    💠

Now, you’re faced with a dilemma. Do you answer the door? Or do you pretend you’re not home and wait them out?

    💠

My guest today, Amber, has a unique perspective on this situation. She’s a fifth-generation Jehovah’s Witness who made the bold decision to leave the Kingdom Hall behind—a choice that came with enormous consequences. Why did she leave? What was it like to walk away from a faith that had been part of her family for generations?

Amber’s story is one of courage, heartbreak, and rediscovery. There’s a reason she’s chosen not to share her last name, and as you’ll hear, her journey is as eye-opening as it is powerful.

    💠

So, are you ready to find out what it’s really like to step away from a faith so deeply rooted in your identity? To hear the story of someone who chose to walk a different path despite the odds?

    💠

Hit play and join me as I step into the shoes of Amber, a former Jehovah’s Witness.
