Main points:
- In 2023, I chose a word of the year, or a mantra of the year, and today, I am reflecting on it from a 12 months perspective.
- My word was “Devotion." Specifically: devotion to my soul’s purpose.
- What does it mean to be devoted? What comes to mind is: loyalty, love, care, trust... trust in its guidance.
- Trust needs to be there; otherwise, the fear will take over. The fear that your soul will suggest something unreasonable, inconvenient, and potentially misaligned with financial security because changes make us think of lack of continuity.
- However when you spend some time on it, it’s not clear what is more unreasonable: the Soul’s guidance or your fear.
- What does it mean to be devoted to your soul’s path, how do you DO it on a random Tuesday? I created a simple list of what I need to focus on to feel that connection and devotion.
Three questions for anyone who wants to communicate better with their Soul:
- When you ask for guidance do you listen?
- When you hear it, do you question it? Do you dismiss inconvenient things? Do you want guarantees?
- When you decide to hear - are you taking action on it?
- Watch for the moment you deny it... when you pretend you didn’t hear it.
- I think our soul stops talking to us when we stop listening, when we dismiss its voice. When we start to listen again, it starts to communicate with us more frequently and more clearly.
- Whether the soul suggests big changes or small changes - we experience disorientation and it’s uncomfortable.
- This is what Thomas Merton felt about being lost. (temporarily)
- My “random” books, random page quotes.
- The most important thing.
