Postpartum Depression and Mental Health in early motherhood with Gemma North

  • サマリー

  • This is the Fourth Trimester podcast. A place where we have real conversations about the transition to motherhood and what that recovery phase after birth feels like.

This is our eighth episode and the last one in the first series.

We will be taking a break over the summer but already have some amazing guests lined up for series two that I can’t wait to share with you.

Today’s guest is Gemma North. Gemma has 20 years experience as an actress but has retrained over the past few years in both coaching and psychology. She is in the process of developing a beautiful programme about the roles we play and how we take up space in the world.

In this episode we talk about our experience of postnatal depression and anxiety. We also cover the importance of taking up space. Gemma shares her experience of a c-section birth, societal expectations on mothers and how to put yourself first and celebrate yourself and the amazing things you do every day as a mother.

Thank you so much for listening today. If you have any questions or concerns about your mental health as a mother, please speak to someone. A professional, to make sure you get the help and support you deserve. There is lots of support out there, so please keep asking if you don’t get a helpful response first time. It is possible to make big changes to your mental health.
