Priscilla “Prisc”

Summer Series: Somebody from the New Testament today! Priscilla is a tent maker, a wife, someone who spreads the Good News, and so much more. Today we’re talking about her story and the interesting people who are part of her story.

We're starting in the book of Acts, where Paul is calling out idol worship in Athens. Soon afterwards, Paul meets Aquila and Priscilla in Corinth. Paul connects with them and... listen in to hear what happens with these three!

Sharing the Gospel is a big part of this story. Hear how Priscilla and Aquilla come alongside Apollos in this story. See what we can learn from this interaction of these three important people in the Bible.

Priscilla plays an important role in spreading the gospel, showing hospitality by providing a meeting place in their home, and showing obedience when called to ministry.

Deborah was a Judge, a leader of Israel, and a prophetess. Her characteristics were being faithful to the Lord, courageous, wise, and humble.

The Israelites cry out to the Lord. He answers by saving them through an appointed Judge. And then they rebel again... It’s a repeated cycle!

What can we learn from Mary Magdalene?

We’re talking about Mary’s life and who she was. What was she known for? Many things!

Mary was an important woman in Jesus mission. Find out about the monumental “three firsts” owned by Mary Magdalene. Hear scripture that speaks to Mary, and what important roles she played. Mary is mentioned by name in all 4 gospels. Interesting!

We know that Jesus cast out 7 demons from Mary. Curious thoughts: Why 7? Do we hear about deliverance from evil spirits today? What might that look like today?

Two sisters today - Leah and Rachel. The two wives of Jacob.

We see a lot in this story: compassion, deception, rivalry, love, heartache, and blessings.

This is a time in the Bible where Jacob is now the chosen one to ‘carry the torch’ of God's covenant that he made with Abraham, and Jacob is looking for a wife.

This jam-pcked story of Laban's two daughters, Leah and Rachel, their maids, and the role they play in fulfilling God’s covenant is quite captivating. Relatives deceiving each other, a sister being barren, and then bearing children, to hiding idols - A lot happens. And God is right in the middle of it all!

Ponder points in this story:

-God works in ways we can’t always understand.

-How important is praising God?

-Do you find yourself waiting on God’s timing, or trying to make things happen by your own strength?

-Where do you see God’s compassion in this story?

Jezebel

Diabolical. Wicked. Deceiving. Whew!

We’re talking aboutJezebel today. Someone we can learn from, as in how NOT to be! The story of Jezebel is quite astonishing.

These stories take place in the time of Kings. The main problem in this time is that evil Kings provoked the Lord God through worshiping foreign idols.

Learn who Jezebel was, her ‘Queening’ style, and learn how God worked in and through these stories. The other main characters besides Jezebel are: King Ahab, Obadiah, the Prophet Elijah, and Naboth.
