  • Recite Your Baseline - Episode 3 - "The Tempus Collective"
    2021/05/23
In this episode, Stewart talks to his long time collaborator Kevin Fleming, from the start of their journey, learning music at school, right up to the hear and now and producing music in their home studio. With insights into their song writing, the meaning behind some of their work and tools used to create their varied sound palette. This lighthearted conversation is sure to shed some light on the duo's creativity and give listeners a wee laugh at the same time. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Tempus Collective are : Kevin Fleming - writing, vocals & keys Stewart Grieve - writing, keys and production Tempus are a duo hailing from Glasgow/Scotland, consisting of Kevin Fleming (vocals and keys) and Stewart Grieve (Keys, programming and production). The boys first met at school and have been playing together since 1983. They got their first 4-track a few years later and have continued to be bedroom music makers ever since, except for a 10 year recess to attend to family life. Over the years there have been various musicians who have joined the ranks but it remains a two piece outfit for the moment with guest musicians joining the band for selected projects as they are required. Influenced by the likes of The Blue Nile, David Sylvian,Thomas Feiner and similar melancholic artists, the Tempus sound is usually a subdued affair that could never be considered mainstream. "We spend a lot of time on production, we always have, its about making the best of what you have at the time, both in ability and equipment and as the years have gone on, both have improved I think. We always felt that one good sounding song was worth 10 poor ones ! That's what we strive for, That's where we always channeled our energies and it still is to this day." Using Soundcloud as their main platform to showcase their music Tempus have accumulated a decent following and gained a lot of confidence from the warm reception they have received from fellow musicians and music lovers alike.... ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Recite Your Baseline is a podcast made by musicians, primarily for musicians that dwell on the outskirts of popular music.
