Yet, for many, the idea of Jesus as Lord can feel distant—like a ruler behind castle walls rather than a close and present Master. In Matthew 8, the first time Jesus is called Lord in the Gospels, His response is not to stand at a distance but to reach out and touch a man in need.

Since the days of the Apostles, the Biblical authors have emphasized the soon coming return of Christ. Even the New Testament ends with Jesus' words, "Yes, I am coming soon!" (Revelation 22:20).
