    2024/10/03

On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by singer/songwriter Kirbi and country music artist, Carl Ray Hopper!

    KIRBI

An emerging star, Savanna Kirby is set to burst onto the scene and into the speakers across the country. Recently compared to elite vocalists Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood, Whitney Houston, and Demi Lovato, Savanna credits her sixth grade Show Choir Director, who heard her natural talent at an early age and guided her and her parents to pursue a future on stage. Utilizing school and recreation programs, she developed her voice through her teen years. Growing up in Florence, Alabama, across the river from Muscle Shoals, she emulated the sound of Muscle Shoals icons Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Percy Jackson and many others.

Capitalizing on incredible choir teachers, Savanna developed vocal basics and spent hours perfecting every note outside of class. An introspective person by nature, Savanna took it upon herself to seek out opportunities for additional individual lessons to gain multiple perspectives on how to improve her range, tone, and vocal strength throughout high school. Additionally, Florence High School offered classes in music recording, song writing and stage performance giving her opportunities to develop the foundation of her career.

Dedicated to a well-rounded life, she remained focused on her education and attends Troy University where she has continued to be a part of multiple performance ensembles while studying Kinesiology. As she approaches her graduation, her talent was discovered in Nashville and signed with Ablaze Entertainment Inc. to develop her brand. Since her signing, she has been featured in numerous magazines, pod-casts, and radio interviews in support of her upcoming debut release single scheduled later in 2022 with additional single releases to follow. Savanna is working with world renowned producer Jeff Huskins, noted Dolby Atmos Mix Engineer specialist, producer and musician that has worked with artists including Clint Black, Jason Aldean, Bruno Mars and many more and who has helped shape Savanna's sound and brought her vocal prowess to the forefront of catchy productions.

As she enters the summer of 2022, her name is heard

    CARL RAY HOPPER

Birmingham Alabama native Carl Ray Hopper didn’t pick music, musicpicked him. Son of Hayes Hopper, renowned saxophone player of the Tiki’s, Brenda Lee, and Loretta Lynn, took Carl Ray on the road as a babywhere he was bitten by the music bug at an early age. He ended up this way watching his daddy play because the rhythm is in the blood. Hestarted playing bass guitar when none of the other kids that wanted to start a band in the neighborhood had one.

Soon after he was gigging in bars way under-age and played in several popular groups that started having a big draw. A touring band from Texas asked him to join their group and the next day he was on a greyhound to Fayetteville NC, where he was picked up by a crew member and taken straight to a show, and then toured relentlessly for years. After returning to Alabama, he soon joined Austin Hanks and “The United”, moving to Nashville for the first time excited to play country songs he had written over the years. He then got an unexpected call from Mars Electric, another rock band Ed Roland of “Collective Soul” had signed to Atlantic Records, using the same production team as “Matchbox Twenty” before John Kalodner the “God-Father“ of A & R, signed them to huge deal with Columbia Records where they had years of top 40 success. This kept Carl Ray busy touring with Stone Temple Pilots, Vertical Horizon, and opening for Motley Crue, just to name a few. Since then, he has worked with several artists as a touring bassist….name dropping upon request.

On August 7th, 2018 his life was changed forever after being struck by a negligent driver on his Harley Davidson. This tragic accident left him

    ANDREA GUESS

Andrea Guess, a native of Brownsville, Kentucky began molding her own musical style in her youth. Learning to write and play, while singing around the house with her mother, just as they still do today. From her first piano sonata at age 7 to the modern day stages of Nashville, TN, she has had music running through her veins for a lifetime. Top honors in talent shows and solo performances in Christmas programs as a child cultivated a deep desire to perform. In 2005, while still in high school, Andrea joined 1030 Records, a local indie label, and began recording her debut album, ‘Mama Raised Me Right’, on which she performed most of the instrumental duties. From there, she played stages all over Kentucky opening shows for artists ranging from Jeff Bates to Ted Nugent. It was also commonplace to catch her playing bass, drums, guitar, or even mandolin for other local Kentucky bands.

Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky University in Broadcasting, Andrea hustled her way through the communications world in the sales department, front office, and management for WLBQ, WWHR, WAKY/WLVK, and Forever Communications (WBVR/WUHU/WLYE/WBGN). But, most notably, she could be found as on air personality, Gracie McGee.

  • Nashville: Gina Powers & LAN LAW
    2024/10/03

On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by singer/songwriter, Gina Powers & country duo, LAN LAW!

    GINA POWERS

Gina Powers is a versatile and captivating singer/songwriter and recording artist with a unique blend of Americana, country, pop/rock, and soul. Her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence have captivated audiences of all ages and musical tastes.

Powers has been singing and playing guitar since she was a child, and her musical influences range from Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton to Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Nicks.

In 2022, Powers released two singles, “Till I Get Through the Night” and “Mississippi’s Burning,” both written by award-winning songwriter Jerry Foster. “Not Anymore” was released in early 2023 followed by two original songs: “All I Ever Wanted” and “Extra Ordinary Life.”

In addition to her solo career, Powers is also the lead singer of The Gina Powers Band, a powerhouse country-rock band that has been playing together since 2015. The band has been featured in several publications and the Prairie Musicianstelevision series.

    LAN LAW

Lan Law is a country duo comprised of brothers Lance Curtis and Lawson Wayne. Hailing from Batesville, Arkansas, the siblings split their time between home and Music City and can most often be found on the road playing stages across the southeast. The name LAN LAW comes from a combination of the first three letters of the brother's first names.

Growing up in a musical family, Lance and Lawson showed musical inclination around the same time they learned to walk and talk. They both play music by ear. By age 9, Lance was proficient in guitar and piano and Lawson was not far behind in keeping up with his big brother. They are 4 years apart in age. Lawson loved to sing at church but wanted to be in the background until age 13 when he began playing music more seriously with his brother.

Lance wrote his first song at 14. He has a true country soul which is reflected in the songs he writes and the way he performs. Because he was raised on classic country music, he takes that and adds to it the perfect blend of modern edge flair to create LAN LAW's unique sound. He notes Cody Johnson, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, William Michael Morgan, Jon Pardi, and Luke Combs as his biggest musical influences. By age 19, Lance was working with record producer Kent Wells (Dolly Parton) and recorded his first solo album, about the time Lawson was beginning to write songs and was getting more comfortable in the limelight.

After three years of wearing the hat of full-time drummer and backup vocalist for his big brother, Lawson joined the band. As they say, the rest is history. A duo was formed and LAN LAW was born - highlighting the sibling's rich heritage, southern rock vocals, and blood harmony.

Then, the boys began writing together. It was natural as close as they are and sharing the same musical influences. Shortly after, they were booked for a tour with the largest Taco festival group in the U.S. They opened for FOZZY at the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, FL. and were later opening shows for Collin Raye, Gene Watson, Barrett Baber, and Craig Campbell.

In 2023, LAN LAW won the European-based International Red Carpet Awards' Duo of the Year and they are nominated for 6 more awards this year. They also received 4 nominations for The 2024 Josie Music Awards which will be held at the Grand Ole Opry House on October 27th.

Lance 23, and Lawson, 19, used the pandemic to hone their craft focusing on their writing and recording as a duo and it has paid off. Since then, LAN LAW has released their debut and sophomore singles, "Back In Town" and "Hillbilly Legal." They also released their first official music video for "Hillbilly Legal" that continues to gain support on video outlets across the nation.
