  • Review: Freddy's Revenge
    2024/09/12

Living in the world is scary enough but what about when your becoming possessed by the king of slasher films in your dreams? In the sequel to Nightmare on Elm Street, we follow Jesse as he is plagued by Freddy taking over his body and killing with him. While it may not have the same the same wow factor as the first movie, it does have an interesting backstory about coming out and an even bigger story for the main actor and what he faced after the launch. That being said it still isn't the strongest in the franchise but what can you say about Freddy movies, "he owns me".

  • Review: Scream
    2024/09/05

Slasher films were all the rage in the mid to late 80's but theres one film that take that ball and ran with it to a different spectrum. When Sydney is plagued by a murderer after her and her friends, anyone could be a suspect in it. With a film from one of the greatest minds in horror using the tropes of those films to actually tell a story is a chefs kiss with possibly one of the best red herrings and motives in slasher history. And you know what they say about motives, right? "It's the millennium, motives are incidental".

  • Review: A Monster Calls
    2024/08/29

When the world is a cold and lonely place, it helps to have a friend, even if it is a giant tree monster. This sad story follows Connor as a young boy dealing with the terminal illness of his mother while at the same time a giant tree monster visits him to tell him 3 stories to help him overcome his real world problems. A moving film that shows nothing is black and white and even if you think your doing the right thing it may still be wrong if you aren't honest with yourself. A rare find that surely went over a lot of peoples heads that will leave you asking,"how does the 4th story end"?

  • Review: Time Bandits
    2024/08/22

Have you ever felt like your meant to do much more in this world but haven't discovered it yet? Why not join a crack team of robbers then. In a forgotten but fun film by Terry Gilliam, a rag tag team of dwarves travel throughout time with a young boy Kevin who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. A film that has a lot to love about it if your a fan of the Monty Python series and yet some dark and twisted scene that make you wonder how this was rated PG. In the end its an enjoyable film that will have you saying "jolly good" the whole time.
