  • Ep 20: A Momentary TikTok Ban & a Magical Anastasia
    2022/12/16

In this episode we interview Sophie Lark, author of many dark-ish romances out there (think of them as dark-lite...the goal post keeps moving for what qualifies as a dark romance these days), as we discuss her recent release Anastasia, based on the true Anastasia Romanov family (not the movie Anastasia, so don't expect a re-telling of that). Sophie and I talk all sorts of things like her decision to incorporate over 100 pages of illustrations in the book, her momentary ban on TikTok for being too sexy with her husband, and what she loves best about working for herself as an author. You can check Sophie out at sophielark.com, on Instagram as sophie_lark_author, and TikTok as sophielarkauthor. Her social media presence is spectacular! Thanks for listening and read whatever the fuck you want.

Disclaimer: due to my own dumbassery this was originally filmed over multiple days of interviews, so if it seems slightly disjointed for a second it's my own editing to blame.

  • Episode 19: November's Love 'Em or Leave 'Em Reads
    2022/12/06

In this episode I break down my reads from November 2022 and answer some random questions from my followers. Books included are: The Governess and the Orc by Finley Fenn, Lex by Cora Rose, Faith & the Dead End Devils by Kathryn Moon, Quiver and Quill by A.M. Kore, Resisting Maxu by Victoria Aveline, Until Him by Cora Rose, Vow Maker by Lily Morton, and Shameless Puckboy by Eden Finley and Saxon James. You may also hear my husband shouting about video games in the background. He's...passionate.

  • Episode 18: Sapphic Romances & A Lesbian Bill Pullman
    2022/11/29

In this episode I interview author of queer romances, Alison Cochrun, about her life, her writing, and her obsession with Bill Pullman and the 1995 movie, "When You Were Sleeping". She is the author of The Charm Offensive (inspired by shows like The Bachelor) and her most recent release Kiss Her Once For Me, a sapphic marriage-of-convenience to get an inheritance, fake-dating romance novel featuring a bisexual heroine who makes a deal with a guy and then realizes she's in love with his sister. What a hoot of an episode.

  • Episode 16: 90s Rom Coms and the Rise of Turkey Smut
    2022/11/15

Mikayla and I come together to bring you an enlightening discussion on turkey-themed smut for this month of giving back. You'll hear our unbiased and unfiltered opinion on books such as: Stuffed by the Were-Turkey by Tate McKirk, Full Sack by Layla Fae, Back for Seconds by Vera Valentine & JL Logosz, and A Fangsgiving to Remember by Kate McDarris. We recorded this episode AND released it and didn't think about not doing it though we maybe should have.

  • Episode 15: 3 Dudes, Lots of Socks, and a Sex Calendar
    2022/11/08

Today's episode features an interview with romance author Tessa Bailey about her new release (11/7) Happenstance, the story of a young woman who suddenly finds herself the object of three men's affections...and they plan to share her. If she'll have them.

We also discuss the time I yelled at her in a Starbucks, whether romance novels are really unrealistic, damsels in distress, and how much we truly wouldn't like having three men sharing our life with us.

  • Episode 14: October 2022 Reading Recap
    2022/11/02

What did I love, what did I not so much enjoy? Listen here and find out. Please keep in mind that these are my honest opinions of these books but that doesn't make them right. I'm just one single person with weird beliefs who makes strange choices. I am not the authority on romance and I hope you never choose NOT to read something because I personally didn't like it. Anyways, books mentioned are:

Tentacles and Triathlons by Ashley Bennett, When She's Pregnant by Ruby Dixon, Happenstance by Tessa Bailey, (a myriad of pumpkin fucking books which you can hear about in Episode 12), Daddies' Girl by Calista Jayne, Little Souls of Fire by Clio Evans, and Finding Home by Sutton Bishop.
