Case brief: Loper Bright Enterprises, Inc v. Gina Raimondo, No. 21-5166 (D.C. Cir. 2022). The United States Constitution grants Congress the authority to create laws, the Supreme Court of the United States the authority to interpret laws, and police departments the power to enforce laws. But what happens when Congress makes an ambiguous law? Do courts always settle legislative ambiguities, or should federal agencies (such as Dept. of Labor, the Peace Corps, Social Security Administration, etc.) have some authority to interpret the ambiguities? What difference does it make to our day-to-day lives? Listen and learn!
