In this week's episode, we sat down with Dr. Yosef Topek to discuss the Emotional First Response Unit. Dr. Topek discusses how the unit was formed and it's importance. He also delved into how it's even come up in various hilchot Shabbat queries and when psychological trauma has been deemed Pikuach Nefesh. Dr. Topak discusses with Zeesha the difference between EFR and the PsychoTrauma units that other organizations have started to put in place. We also discuss the importance of having mental health professionals in any Hatzalah organization to help with debriefing after traumatic incidents.
