  • Feb 5, 2025: The joy is back as newcomers once again perform in win over Colorado.
    2025/02/05

Matt and guest co-host Patrick Johnston discuss the Canucks' 3-0 win over Colorado; the contributions of newcomers Filip Chytil and Drew O'Connor; the emergence of Elias Pettersson on defence; Thatcher Demko finding his groove; and the overall joy and vibe-improvement after two weekend trades. They also talk about the other Elias Pettersson, and whether he'll ever find his game.

Frank Corrado joins and declared he's the president of the Victor Mancini Fan Club. He gives us insight on Chytil, O'Connor and Marcus Pettersson; tells us Pettersson will eventually bounce back; analyzes the Canucks' style of play before/after the dealing; and discusses what a dressing room is like when so much change happens at once.

Laurence Gilman stops by and says the Canucks made out well with the trades, both in hockey and salary-cap senses. He evaluates Carson Soucy's standing with the organization and his value on the trade market. And he explains what he'd do to get Pettersson going.

  • Feb 4, 2025: Canucks put Soucy on the block as remodelling of defence continues & new-look lineup battles Avs.
    2025/02/04

Matt and guest co-host Farhan Lalji from Super Bowl discuss the makeover of the Canucks; the availability of Carson Soucy via trade; and whether J.T. Miller belongs in the Canucks' Ring of Honour. We get Farhan's thoughts on if they're a better team following two big trades; whether moving Soucy is wise; how they'll sort the goaltending going forward; and what happened to get to this point. The guys also discuss Super Bowl 59 between Kansas City and Philadelphia and the B.C. Lions in free agency.

John Shannon stops by and says he's disappointed that Miller is gone, even if he understands it. He really likes newcomers Drew O'Connor and Victor Mancini, but says the most important guy in the trades is a guy who wasn't a part of those trades: Elias Pettersson. He remains bullish on the Canucks' playoff chances and is thrilled that Rick Tocchet can finally get back to coaching.

Cam Robinson is coolish on the Canucks' deals. He's fine with the Miller deal but doesn't like that they had to surrender a first-round pick in the Marcus Pettersson trade. He says there should be a market for Soucy but wonders why the Canucks would move a potential playoff contributor after making a trade for two unrestricted free agents. He doesn't see a fit for Ottawa's Josh Norris, even if he loves the idea of acquiring Quinn Hughes' best friend. And he says Miller falls short of Ring of Honour worthiness.

  • Feb 3, 2025: What's next for the Canucks, plus, all the first impressions post-trades
    2025/02/03

A busy weekend for the Canucks! Two trades and two games later, where are the Canucks now and where they headed? Matt and Blake are back to break it all down after some first impressions of the new look core vs the Red Wings. The guys look at the chance of any more dramatics before the trade deadline, and is Quinn Hughes ok after missing the game on Sunday? TSN's Darren Darren stops by with a blow by blow description of how it all went down for the Canucks, and gives us the lowdown on what the tipping point was in the JT Miller trade. Dregs talks about the Canucks current situation and whether Elias Pettersson could still be traded, and the salary cap situation getting the trades going around the NHL. Then it's RinkWide's Jeff Paterson with his review on the new look Canucks, both in concept and in the game vs Detroit. Plus, is Carson Soucy's scratch indicative of the club's loyalty to the player ahead of the deadline? All that. plus the huge NBA trade, along with Lions and Whitecaps news as well!
