  • 006: Erased – The Disappearance of Siam Theerawut
    2025/03/04

🩸 “No funeral. No grave. No record. As if he never existed at all.” 🩸 In this harrowing episode of Shadows of Siam, we uncover the chilling disappearance of Siam Theerawut, a pro-democracy activist who dared to challenge Thailand’s military-backed regime. In 2019, Siam vanished without a trace after being deported from Vietnam. No arrest records. No official acknowledgment. Just silence. But how do you erase a person—not just their body, but their entire existence?

    In this episode, we explore:

🔸 Siam’s early life and his path to activism

🔸 His involvement in The Wolf Bride—a play that became a political lightning rod

🔸 His years in exile, fighting for change from afar

🔸 The mysterious circumstances of his disappearance

🔸 The endless search for answers by his mother, Kanya

🔸 The broader, haunting reality of enforced disappearances in Southeast Asia

  • 005: The Cursed Rituals of Thailand – Forbidden Practices That Bring Death
    2025/02/25

Would you invite a spirit into your home… if it promised you wealth, power, and protection? In Thailand, there’s a ritual that blurs the line between devotion and darkness—one that begins with a child’s whisper… and can end in tragedy.

Meet the Kuman Thong — the "Golden Boy." What looks like an innocent figure hides a chilling history. Rooted in ancient Thai black magic, these statues were once believed to house the spirits of unborn children, bound through forbidden rituals. Kept in homes, they were offered toys, sweets, and even whispered to like living children—all in exchange for good fortune.

But there’s a catch. Neglect them, and they grow restless. Disrespect them, and they turn. Stories tell of Kuman Thong statues that moved on their own, demanded offerings, or worse… sought revenge when forgotten. This week, we dive deep into the terrifying truths behind Thailand’s most haunted talisman, the Kuman Thong, and the cursed rituals that should never have been performed.

Thank you to my incredible research team for unearthing the dark corners of Thai folklore and magic for this episode.
