In this episode, Zack and music producer and entrepreneur Joey Sturgis tackle how to grow online communities, hiring vs. outsourcing vs. doing it yourself, finding the right customers, and more.
Joey is a parallel entrepreneur and music producer from Michigan. Originally from Connersville, IN, Joey began his career as a self-taught computer programmer and music producer. He rose to fame when many of the bands he produced such as The Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack, and Asking Alexandria blew up in the rock and metal scene. After years of producing music for other artists, Joey shifted his focus to creating products and services for other music producers. His companies Joey Sturgis Tones, Drumforge, and URM Academy are just a few of the software and educational product companies he’s helped build. Joey loves marketing, user experience, product design, music production, software development, and of course, corgis.
