  • What's the Hold Up on a Steelers WR Trade? | Steelers Morning Rush
    2024/10/08
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, Alan breaks down the difficulties of making trades in the NFL. The Steelers had a much-publicized whiff when it comes to trying to trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk this offseason. Now they're two weeks into talks with the Las Vegas Raiders about Davante Adams, but no deal appears to be forthcoming. What is Omar Khan doing and why hasn't he pulled the trigger on one of these trades? It's not as easy as you think. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • Do Steelers Have a Pickens Problem? | Steelers Afternoon Drive
    2024/10/07
Alan and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss some of the talking points and takeaways coming out of the team's Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. How can the blame for the offensive struggles be divvied up amongst the coaching staff, the players, etc...? We then dive into the team's George Pickens problem. Clearly showing a lack of effort and having no down to down consistency to his game, where can the team pivot to? Are we passed the point of no return? Could the team be pursuing Davante Adams as a replacement as opposed to pairing them together? Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss! Learn more about your ad choices. • Time for Steelers to Turn to Russell Wilson? | Steelers Morning Rush
    2024/10/07
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, Alan breaks down the Steelers quarterback situation after another un-inspiring outing by Justin Fields and the entire offense. Fields completed 15 of 27 passing for 131 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday night's 20-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. That's the fourth time in five games that Fields failed to throw for even 200 yards. While he has not turned the ball over, with just two giveaways on the season, it still seems clear that head coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith don't fully trust Fields, and he isn't really giving them a lot of reason to feel like they have to. With Russell Wilson rounding into health, it seems like this could be the week the Steelers' veteran quarterback makes his return. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • Patrick Queen Rebound Game Coming? | Steelers Morning Rush
    2024/10/04
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, Alan breaks down his key matchup for the Steelers in their Week 5 home game against the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is the Cowboys' big-play threat, and his presence will likely need to be accounted for by multiple players in the Steelers defense. That's going to leave tight end Jake Ferguson a lot of room to work with, and linebacker Patrick Queen, along with Payton Wilson, safety DeShon Elliott and slot cornerback Beanie Bishop, are going to have to handle the big tight end in all that room. With the Cowboys unable to run the ball, the short passing game to Ferguson and back Rico Dowdle might be the only chance they have to sustain drives on offense. Shutting it down will be key to the Steelers. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • What's Wrong with Najee Harris? | Steelers Morning Rush
    2024/10/03
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the play of Steelers running back Najee Harris. Through four games, Harris has rushed 68 times for 228 yards and a 3.4 yards per carry that is down from his career average of 3.9. His latest game was his worst one, rushing 13 time for 19 yards at a 1.5 yards per carry clip in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. With backups Jaylen Warren (knee) and Coradarrelle Patterson (ankle) both banged up, it's going to be incumbent on Arthur Smith to find a way to get Najee Harris going against the Dallas Cowboys this week. How can they do it? Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
