  • Sticky Jazz Interview Trust Me
    2026/03/31

Lynn Breedlove (He/They) is a longtime legend in the Bay Area Punk Scene, having played the same stage the same night with Pansy Division (Oh the story there) and so much else.

Pulling long time collaborators Travis Andrews and percussionist Andy Meyerson for this current project "Trust Me" for some really beyond personal experiences of grief, growing up queer, lost in America's shameful history of exclusion. Fighting to self identify, and fighting just to survive.

This album goes into a life no stone unturned, Lynn tells the story of a series of murders that were personal, and how to love the person who did it, saying "Forgiveness does not equal justice" and plenty of other insights into what makes us human.

Lynn also told some great stories about Chris Freeman of Pansy Division, that I have his permission to leave in this episode.

The album is called "Why I like Dead Guys", and it came from an email explaining Bowie and Prince. Nuff said.

  • Sticky Jazz Interview Imaad Wasif
    2026/03/16

If there was a mix of George Harrison style Beatles, into the Cochella inspired "Desert Rock", only better, you have the music of Imaad Wasif, a Canadian singer / songwriter who now lives in the Los Angeles area.

He has been making music for years, and played in other bands, and now has his own label releasing his own music on his terms. With that, we got to discuss his new release "Superconscious", a wandering musical journey getting close to enlightenment, but still managing to keep your feet on the ground.

Themes of depression, loss, mourning, and confusion with the world, and some introspective ideas of where it all might be going.

I had a lot of fun in this interview, but I also really needed it, this album came into my life in the midst of so much spirit crushing stuff in life. He seems to help you get through it.

This is where you can find it all.

  • Sticky Jazz Interview Dominique Fils-Aime
    2026/03/12

Dominique Fils-Aime has a commanding presence, just photos show how amazing her visuals are. But once you hear her voice, you feel like you have met the flipside of Florence Welsh and Adele. Her voice is so powerful, playful, soothing, and "other worldly" that her videos almost do it justice.

Dominique is a French Canadian Jazz singer from Montreal, and she has a great vibe all her own, though she does capture a lot of the "Montreal Vibe" that you hear in bands like BranVan 3000.

Having just released her new album "My World Is The Sun", we talked about the music that inspired her, how her mothers just goofing off on a tape brought this whole new album together, and how snakes feel totally comfortable around her.

Having won Juno awards (Like the Grammy in Canada) She is one singer you just can't pass up.

  • Sticky Jazz Interview Grace Inspace
    2026/03/03

If there is ever an artist you gotta know the backstory to get a clearer idea of what the music is about, Grace Inspace hands it all to you.

I really dove into the video "Helium Balloon" and loved the aesthetics and it brought me back to a childhood fave French film "The Red Balloon" which had apparently been creeping around her subconscious. As I was discovering things in her work that I just and to ask about, any of her videos can be considered great pieces of performance art, and her visuals are magnificent , even citing other films with similar visuals.

Having spent an extended time in isolation from long Covid, she focused so much on her art, the music, and how she was going to tell the story in the videos.

Dive into her new EP "Heavy Hair" as the videos involving hair will leave you scratching your head, you'll love it all I promise.

  • Sticky Jazz Interview Magic Wands (2)
    2026/02/23

I interviewed Magic Wands previously, and I got to see them opening for Birthday Massacre, and they are back at it. This time in the interim of this interview and posting, they released as single with John Ashton of The Psychedelic Furs (in my interview with him, he stated what a huge fan he is of theirs, and, well, Magic Wands grew up listening to John).

I included that final product in this interview, as it is truly a clash of AWESOME, the dreamy darkwave sound of Magic Wands, with the unmistakable guitar work of John Ashton.

I am thrilled to give it to you in this episode.

Also in this episode, we talked about the inspiration for this new work, and how the dreams were inspired from the artwork in a book about the worlds fair, over a hundred years ago.

There is some great music, and discussion in this episode.

  • Sticky Jazz Interview Andy James
    2026/02/02

Quick Milestone everyone, Sticky Jazz was the 2nd most listened to music podcast out of Utah for 2025. VIVE FOR US... Thanks everyone.

So, because we are called Sticky Jazz, we are happy to have on the show this week the fantastic female jazz vocalist Andy James. She is an Australian born Jazz singer, and flamenco dancer, who migrated to the US via Madrid Spain.

She just released an album "Architect of My Blues", it is a jazz album inspired by the late Ray Charles, where his influence is all over in this collection of songs.

Andy James' musical collaborations with other artists are notable artists, are just fantastic. She came across as pretty shy, but her voice is bold, and she really delivers, especially as we talked about her "Last song" at concerts.

If you like Jazz, Andy James has some vocal talent unmatched in female vocalists, I rate her up there with Holly Cole, Julie London, and even Astrid Gilberto.

  • Sticky Jazz Interview EMF (Ian Dench)
    2025/12/09

Everyone remembers "Unbelievable" by EMF in the early 90s, they were at the forefront of the electro hip hop rock shift that just "happened" out of nowhere, with funky hats, hairstyles and synth pushing rock into new genres.

Bands like EMF were getting play everywhere, along with Jesus Jones, Pop Will Eat Itself, The Farm, this was a new take on alternative music that captured the zeitgeist of the time, the music captured the feel, and the anxiety and new freedom in the post cold war world.

I covered their gig in Salt Lake City over the summer with a band "Ecce Shnak" in tow, and had a quick chat with both bands. EMF was out having fun, and giving us new material, of an album they had released in 2024 "The Beauty and The Chaos". The gig was fantastic, and they played some new material from the EP they just released in November 2025, called "Reach For Something Higher".

I got to chat with Ian Dench the guitarist while he drove around London, we talked about some fun history of the band and their music, Motorhead, and James Atkin's love of football jerseys.

On this new EP there is a wonderful song that EMF recorded with Ecce Shnak called "LGBTQ+ LOVER". I filmed it during the soundcheck and it was incredible. This song gives the message that all are loved in "Gods' great plan", and showcases the mega talent of both bands. Yeah they are both that great.

  • Sticky Jazz Interview John Ashton (Psychedelic Furs) 10-19-2025
    2025/11/29

The FIRST all format episode on Spotify, Youtube, etc.

The Psychedelic Furs have been a staple in my musical diet for close to 40 years. I first met the guitarist John Ashton in 1992, then over the years at more gigs than I can count (*Really, it was all a blur).

John is one of those guitar gods, who has written some of the best musical compositions in the New Wave genre, so many of them have gone down in history.

In this conversation, John told so many rich stories of the Rock & Roll Circus, many of which I was there when these moments occurred. A lot of which, though funny, (Spinal Tap like funny) they were not to be spoken of in this interview.

John has released a total gem of an album with his solo side project "Satellite Paradiso" which is a supergroup of his friends, borrowing Gail Ann Dorsey from Bowie, half of the personnel from the Psychedelic Furs, and on vocals Fred Schreck from "Ancients". This album has so many powerful songs on it, with an all star cast playing. One that everyone who listened to New Wave over the last 40 years should just dive into. Satellite Paradiso

AND if you want to check out the all star cast of talent, here is a lovely rabbit hole to go down.
