  • How to navigate risk, volatility and market swings
    2025/01/28
There’s never been a trade that didn’t involve risk. In this episode of Stock in Translations, Kenny Glick, owner of HitTheBid.com, joins Yahoo Finance markets and data editor Jared Blikre and Producer Sydnee Fried to discuss risk, volatility, and reward. Glick, who makes his living trading options, is no stranger to the risks of day trading. He thrives on volatility, even though it’s inherently risky. One of his tools for navigating this risk is UVXY (UVXY), a derivative of the VIX (^VIX)—the 30-day outlook on S&P 500 volatility. “UVXY is a product that's basically built to go down, and it tries to reflect the fear of the day,” says Glick. “So as a day trader, especially for the shorters… if UVXY shows any kinds of strength, you know that the sellers are out there. And my God, if it's actually trending higher, UVXY, you know, the market's in trouble.” Find this episode's transcripts and more episodes of Stocks in Translation at https://finance.yahoo.com/videos/series/stocks-in-translation/ Thoughts? • Is it time to shift to a value focused investment strategy?
    2025/01/21

  • Why this strategist expects volatility in Q1
    2025/01/09
As the new year kicks off, investors are eager to uncover what 2025 holds, particularly in light of the incoming Trump administration, the evolving world of AI, and the volatile conclusion of 2024 for markets. Michael Reinking, senior market strategist at the New York Stock Exchange, joins Stocks in Translation to discuss the year ahead with hosts Yahoo Finance’s markets and data editor Jared Blikre and producer Sydnee Fried. Amid challenging market conditions — including Washington’s policies and two consecutive years of 20% returns — Reinking notes that “valuations, which are a little bit more stretched than they have been historically,” suggest heightened volatility ahead. Noting, “If you look at four-year presidential election cycles… the first quarter does tend to be one of… the more rocky quarters,” said Reinking. • The challenge of trusting financial influencers on social media
    2025/01/02
Financial information is readily available online, particularly on social media platforms like TikTok, but can financial influencers truly be trusted? Jessica Inskip, director of investor research at Stockbroker.com, joins Stocks in Translation, hosted by Yahoo Finance’s markets and data editor Jared Blikre and producer Sydnee Fried, to discuss the 2025 financial landscape. Inskip highlights concerns about younger generations relying on short-form platforms like TikTok, where many creators lack experience or unintentionally spread misinformation despite good intentions. She also addresses the issue of outdated social media regulations, pointing to FINRA Rule 2210, which mandates that a compliance professional review any electronic communication sent to 10 or more people.
