This week’s guest is the Eisner Award winning writer and creator of CHEW, John Layman. John’s also written for Marvel, DC, Wildstorm, IDW, Oni and Dynamite. In this episode we chat about working conventions as an editor, doing shows as a writer, and traveling internationally as a working comic creator. John also gives advice on going to your first shows while trying to break in, tells a touching story involving cosplay, and how the con next door is always better than the con you’re at.

  • SFW with Jay Faerber
    2022/05/13

Ryan’s guest this week is Jay Faerber. Jay is a writer of comics and television. He has co-created and written such comic book series as Elsewhere, Copperhead, Noble Causes, Dynamo 5, and Near Death at Image Comics, and has worked on such iconic titles as Green Lantern, X-Men, Generation X, Titans, and Superman. He previously was a writer for the CBS show ZOO, and most recently was a writer on the CW’s Supergirl. They chatted a bit about the differences between writing comics and writing for television, advice for television writing, working on location, and how being at conventions and being “on” all weekend can be exhausting. His newest book, a digital crime comic called Glacier City is available at panelsyndicate.com.
