In this podcast - PART TWO of THE LAST DAY AT THE GUILD - you can hear :-
Rushen Silver Band with American Trilogy - taken from their Brass Band Concert Class, winning performance. They're conducted by John Kinley and Rushen band member Martin Norbury won the award for the Best Soloist.
The winners of the Community Choir class were Aalin Clague's Yn Choraa - this is their full programme
Lon Vane Ladies Choir won the Female Voice Choir Class - there was a set test piece for all choirs, followed by items of their own choice to a total maximum time limit of 12 minutes. Listen to Lon Vane singing the test piece - "As You Sing" - their Musical Director is Christine Bregazzi and the percussion is provided by Jane Creer
Manx Voices are next, with two pieces from their Choir Concert Class entry - a song with a story which will be explained by the choir's Musical Director Angela Stewart, and this is followed by "Didn't It Rain" The choir's accompanist is Julie Brew.
Platform Primaries won the Action Song Class with "Big Red Plane"
Ealish Creer won the Folk Song Class for 14 to 18 year olds, with "There Were Roses"
There's another chance to hear the winners of the Duet Class, Anna Tamarova and Cristl Stitt, singing "True Colours" from Trolls by Steinberg/Kelly
Then there's some amazing violin playing by class-winner Frank Joughin, followed by part of the performance by the IOM Arts Council Community Choir, singing "They Can't Take That Away From Me" Their Musical Director is Mandy Griffin, and the accompanist is David Holland
Each day of classes during Guild Week concludes with the singing of the National Anthem - so in similar spirit, we complete this programme with Manx Voices Triads singing Harry Pickard's arrangement of Ellan Vannin MV Triads are Mel Keating, Angela Gerrard and Elisa Gerrard
