  • Protecting our space from negativity and teaching our children to do the same.
    2024/07/15

Protecting our space from negativity and teaching our children how to do the same.

How do children and teenagers deal with negativity as they are getting older?

How do we as parents protect our children from unnecessary negative situations?

In this episode, we discuss if your children have a self-esteem in place that allows them to absorb negativity. We provide suggestions on how to teach them to protect their space and their spheres.

As parents, we have to have open communication with our children to understand what they are going through. We have to work on the communication with our children and have them learn how to effectively communicate with the world around them.

Children model the behaviors of adults. When dealing with negative situations, children will manage negative situations based on the behaviors that you’ve modeled in your own home.

Teach children that the opinions of others don’t provide them the reason for their self worth and that their worthiness in the world is not based on the opinions of others.

  • How to Ease Communication with our Teens & Tweens
    2024/06/11

The 5 Spheres of Fit is in reality a simple to implement process. Everything is in the details of what you are doing and what you need to pay attention to. The interplay between the spheres is a critical aspect that we as individuals are neglecting to observe.

The 5 Spheres is a tool giving you the ability to organize your concerns, your thoughts, your goals, your challenges in the 5 Spheres - the physical, mental, financial, social, and educational spheres. It allows you to evaluate your life in a much more ideal manner so that ultimately you can find a solution to what you are trying to achieve.

In this episode, we go through examples on how to implement the strategy - one common one being someone trying to lose weight.

We also discuss sharing the 5 Spheres with your children. As children age into the tween and teen years, communication is critical and this process allows for adults to decipher what children are maneuvering through. The 5 Spheres is a tool to open conversations between adults and children of all ages.

Ultimately, the most successful people have a process and it’s essential that children grow up adopting such a process.

  • Coaches, Teachers, and Sarcasm
    2023/12/14

Sarcasm derives from Greek words meaning “tearing of the flesh.”

Know your audience. Sarcasm can be funny when joking around amongst friends and family. But sarcasm, and consistent sarcasm at that, can be detrimental to a child’s 5 Spheres.

In this episode we talk about athletic coaches and teachers who use sarcasm or talk down to children consistently.

Sarcasm, especially to a child, is not constructive and comes across as belittling and humiliating. Some children do not understand sarcastic comments and what the goal of the comment is.

How is your child being impacted by a sarcastic adult in their life? What is the long term affect of being talked down to? This type of behavior affects each child’s sphere differently.

Research indicates pros and cons for constant sarcasm in a child’s life. We recommend using The 5 Spheres strategy to determine if this individual has a negative impact on your child.
