In this episode, we delve into the incredible world of Kristin Eno, an art educator who has spent the past twenty years teaching young children in progressive schools in New York City. Kristin has worked as a Studio Teacher at Beginnings Nursery School and as a Community Arts Educator at the Manny Cantor Center, where she facilitated early childhood studio sessions and family and senior workshops.
Kristin's educational nonprofits, Find & Seek, Digital Story Workshop, and Little Creatures Films, have allowed her to develop a unique practice in video documentation of young children's imaginative play and original stories. She has produced over twenty short films alongside children, including Spirit Ship, a Red Hook-based mystery, and Through the Window, a collaboration with the Yale Center for British Art. Her work has been featured in Susan Ochshorn's book, Squandering America's Future: Why ECE Policy Matters for Equality, Our Economy, and Our Children (2015).
A graduate of Dartmouth College (B.A.) and Columbia Teachers College (M.Ed.), Kristin also participated in a study tour of the Reggio Emilia preschools in 2018. Since 2021, Kristin and her family have called Hamden, CT, their home. After completing a collaborative research fellowship in 2022-23 with creative partner Cozbi A. Cabrera at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Kristin has focused on connecting archival treasures with young children and elders.
This fall, Kristin will embark on a new adventure as the Art Teacher at Cold Spring School in New Haven. Join us as we explore Kristin's journey and learn how she continues to inspire creativity and imagination in the minds of young children through the power of art education.
