  • Seafood and Gender Equality at and The Beach Academy Podcast
    2024/04/07

Hello everyone, today’s guest on The Beach Academy Podcast is Julie Kuchepatov. Julie is the Founder of SAGE - Seafood and Gender Equality organization. Join us as we explore the mission and impact of the Seafood and Gender Equality (SAGE) organization, where Julie serves as a driving force.

In this enlightening conversation, Julie shares insights into the challenges women face in the traditionally male-dominated seafood sector and how SAGE is actively working to transform the industry into a more inclusive and resilient space.

Since the recording of this podcast, SAGE has launched three new efforts to promote gender equality in the seafood sector:

    1. The Bloom, a networking community for women and genderqueer people working at any level in the sector. We meet virtually every month to support and learn from each other and invited guests. Join The Bloom today!

    2. The Gender Equality Dialogues (GED): The GED is a series of virtual meetings designed for the executive leadership of North American seafood companies. Participants in the GED align on the issues of gender inequality, create actionable commitments to address these inequalities, and leave equipped with the tools to implement their commitments. Learn more here!

    3. The Speakers’ Bureau for the Seafood Sector - this is a platform to connect seafood conference organizers with women and genderqueer people who are looking for speaking opportunities, thus eliminating the “manel,” or panels full of men. Find your next expert speaker or fill out your own profile today!
