  • Fashion from the 1960's - The Mini-Skirt
    2025/04/03

    Dearest glamorous darlings,

Welcome back to another fabulous episode ofThe Fashion Boudoir where we uncover the history, the scandal, and the undeniable power of fashion’s most iconic pieces.

Today, we’re diving into a garment that has done more than just raise hemlines—it has raised eyebrows and voices, challenging the norms, and become a symbol of liberation: theminiskirt. But before the 1960s turned it into the ultimate rebellious statement, hints of its bold future were already shimmering in the unlikeliest of places—science fiction and the world of haute couture’s young revolutionaries.

From the daring designs of Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent to the shimmering micro-minis of futuristic heroines on the silver screen, the stage was being set for a cultural shift that would take fashion—and feminism—by storm.

How did the miniskirt go from a sci-fi fantasy to a streetwear staple? What role did the bold youth of the baby boom era play in cementing its place in history? And how did designers like Mary Quant and André Courrèges transform this once-controversial piece into an emblem of power, confidence, and modernity?

Buckle up, darlings, because we’re about to journey through time, tracing the rise of the miniskirt from subversion to sensation.

    Elegantly yours,

  • Jo Malone C.B.E - An Entrepreneur, Passionate Creator And Model Of Resilience
    2025/03/20

    Dearest glamorous darlings,

I am absolutely delighted to welcome you into my boudoir. Today, I shall paint the picture of a woman that has been described as the English scent maverick and whose name I am sure is very familiar to you: Jo Malone C.B.E (Commander of the British Empire).

If someone could paint a scent or if someone could transpose a painting into a symphony of scents, this person would probably be Jo Malone. A self-made woman, who came from a modestbackground and built two global businesses, revolutionized the art of perfumery and inspired many young artists and entrepreneurs (I found those two words and qualificatives being too often opposed when in reality, they are quite closedin the requirements they expect: nurturing passion, creativity and cultivating opportunities).

So make yourself comfortable and let me guide you through the story of Jo Malone.

    Elegantly yours,

    Carla Moulin

  • Cartier - The Story Behind The Panther
    2025/02/27

    Dearest glamorous darlings,

To celebrate Cartier's upcoming exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, we embark on a journey alongside the maison’s most iconic emblem: the Panther. Discover the visionary woman behind it all—Jeanne Toussaint—whose bold spirit and artistry redefined high jewelry in the 20th century.

Before the panther prowled through Cartier’s creations, before its feline grace became the untamed emblem of the maison, Cartier had already earned its crown—the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers.

It was Edward VII who bestowed this title, declaring Cartier the official jeweler of the British court, a legacy sealed with a royal warrant in 1904. From the glittering tiaras of European empresses to the resplendent extravagance of India’s maharajas, Cartier was more than a jeweler—it was the guardian of royalty’s most dazzling treasures. The Maharaja of Patiala himself entrusted the house with a staggering 234-carat yellow diamond, asking not for mere ornamentation, but for a masterpiece that would blend the grandeur of India with the modernity of Art Deco.

Today, we step into the world of La Panthère where diamonds and onyx spoke the language of desire with dreams of freedom woven in platinum.

Let us begin to tell the story of the Panther.
