How often do we forget that God is in control. Sure, we can think, and decide and plan but God has the last say. Jonah is going to learn this lesson the hard way but some of our best lessons are learned that way.

Though Jonah was a rebellious prophet of God, he came to a place where he was honest about what he was doing. He had to because he was putting the lives of others in danger. We need to consider this as well when it comes to our own personal honesty. Whether we realize it or not, our lives do impact others and admitting the truth about ourselves saves us ands them.

Life brings with it many challenges. Some of those challenges come from God. Jonah had his own challenge and he rebelled against it. But of course, God won out.

This is good to remember when God brings your challenge to you. He does have an expected end and it always better than what we thought.

If there is one non-debatable in life, it is the importance of being honest with ourselves and about ourselves. This also has to do with being honest before God. If you think about it, He knows all anyway. Nothing is hidden from Him.

This is going to be a lesson for Jonah. Things do not turn around to the good for him until he begins to be honest about his sin. Perhaps this is a lesson for all people. The protection against the storm is not an umbrella but honesty.

Let' face it. The storms of life will come. And a big one came in the life of Jonah. The interesting thing is, God sent it. Sometimes God uses extreme measures to get our attention or to change our direction. Has this ever happened to you?

It would do us well to pay attention how God is working in our lives. It could just be Him and not people who is bringing the storm.

Did you ever hear God tell you something and you immediately refused in your heart to obey it? Sometimes our own thoughts and opinions outweigh God's. That's what we find in the prophet, Jonah.

Today we will meet a man who who disagreed with God's idea because he thought it was a bad one. Let's listen and learn so we don't make the same mistake.

The hidden life is God working on you when no one else can see, maybe not even you. Depth means deep thinking. Jesus talked about rocky shallow soil where seed was sown but it had no roots because of the bedrock underneath. These are the emotional, superficial believers. They ave no depth of soil. No deep thinking.

But tyhe good soil was prepared soil and produced abundanant fruit. Listen carefully and see where you stand in God's garden.

There must be a balance in one's Christian walk. It is not all blessing and prosperity and it is not all suffering and trials. But it is a balance between the two.

In this message, the Apostle Paul is ready to die and he is stating that he fought the good fight, finished the course ands kept the faith. How did he do that and is that something we can and should do as well?
