Social scientists suggest that as young as age 40, women begin to experience something called the “invisibility syndrome” -- a psychological experience where a person feels their ability, personality, and worth are disregarded due to bias. One underlying theory is that women’s worth has long been defined in service to the male ego and as women age, they no longer serve that ego and become invisible.
