On Saturday night I must have listened to the speech, the one delivered TD Thomas Gould during a discussion in the Dáil about Ireland recognising the State of Palestine, about 20 times. I just couldn't stop listening, it felt so powerful, whatever energy he was giving off, it got right through to my bones. As I listened I started formulating something...an idea for something, I did nothing about it all the next day, but let it stew.

Then at about 11pm, when I should have been going to bed, I found somewhere quiet, took out the laptop and by 2am it was done.Now I'm listening to this version over and over.

Thank you Thomas Gould for saying what needed to be said.

You'll love this guy! As a big fan of the play Eden and the TV show 'Pure Mule', I was delighted to get the opportunity to talk to the man who wrote them, Eugene O'Brien. They say never meet people you admire (hero might be a bit strong) but Eugene was extremely sound. We chatted about his new book, Going Back, a story about Scoby Donoghue's return from Australia to the midlands town where he grew up. It's been a while but I finally found the time to record an interview for the podcast and it was well worth it. Recorded at the start of the summer it's taken me a fair while to get around to publishing the feckin' thing and for that, I apologise to John. Time, time, time! I actually blame John for my tardiness! He told me to relax, be in the moment, and publish podcasts really late. At least I think that's what he said. Either way, 'tis out now! We had a crackin' chat about his new book The Stream of Everything and covered some of its themes. The main messages from the interview are: Love yourself, spend time on a river, be more present and be even more silly.
