Hello and welcome to the Mayerzine!

When I said slow down, I wasn't anticipating going this slow. We've hit some bumps in the road, but I'm trying to get the train back on the track. The schedule is going to be a little erratic as I try to get us caught up. But for now, some more Mayerzine goodness!

    Episode Contents:

    • 0:56 - A Dream of Red Hands, by Bram Stoker
    • 25:07 - Phantoms of Reality, part 2, by Ray Cummings

Hello and welcome to the Mayerzine!

Well, it's been a hot minute, but we're back with a new issue. The Mayerzine has to unfortunately slow down to every other week, but this will allow me to spend time on all that bonus stuff I've been promising to the patrons.

This issue wraps up A May-Day Gift and I am so thrilled to have been able to bring that to you. Aven will be back with more, don't you worry. We also have another guest narrator joining our ranks: Amanda Stribling - and I'll be getting more stuff from her, too.

    Episode Contents:

    • 0:55 - A May-Day Gift, part 4, by Mary Catherine Crowley, narrated by Aven Shore
    • 14:33 - The Brief Debut of Tildy, by O. Henry, narrated by Amanda Stribling
    • 28:45 - Phantoms of Reality, part 1, by Ray Cummings

Hello and welcome to the Mayerzine!

Happy Memorial Day, my fellow Americans. At some point during your Kickoff-to-Summer barbeque, please take a moment to remember and celebrate those who have fallen in service to our country. My grandfather was on a boat providing cover fire at Normandy but he thankfully came home. So many others didn't from so many other conflicts. Today we salute their courage and sacrifice.

    Episode Contents:

    • 1:25 - Dandy Steve, by Helen Jackson
    • 25:23 - The Enchanted Types, by L. Frank Baum
    • 38:42 - A May-Day Gift, part 3, by Mary Catherine Crowley, narrated by Aven Shore

    Welcome to the Mayerzine!

This week I included another story which featured war with Russia in the form of a post-WW3 story with an interesting twist ending. While I didn't mean it to be timely or a commentary, one cannot escape the larger picture. Everything we do is in the context of current events, and I'd be a hypocrite to say otherwise, considering how I try to contextualize the stories I give you and point out the social mores of the time that would be inappropriate (to say the least) today.

I've personally made friends and had dealings and acquaintances with Russian peoples, so I've been exposed to the larger Russian culture. My heart breaks for what's happening. The Mayerzine stands with the people of Ukraine, but there's realistically nothing we can do to put words into actions (and if you have suggestions beyond donating to causes, I'm all ears). My heart also breaks for the people of Russia because I know that this is also taking a heavy toll on that country and its everyday Russian.

I try to keep the Mayerzine apolitical, and I didn't mean for this week's stories to coincide so, but when you choose a story like Bear Trap to anchor the month, it kind of dictates what else you program, even if subconsciously.

That said, we still have hundreds of stories to go through and catalogue, so if anyone wants to help out, feel free to sound off in the Patreon or email Mayerzine@chrismayervoiceover.com.

    Episode Contents:

    • 2:03 - The Answer, by H. Beam Piper
    • 28:28 - Bear Trap, by Alan E. Nourse, part 3
