    Note:

The True Crime genre is real life with creative storytelling. Our stories are journeys of struggle, triumph, and heartbreak. They are stories that are not with characters in black and white but in gray. It's noir, it's real, it's the Murder Inn.

There are real people behind the creative versions of the stories we tell. So, we must express that these stories are often the worst day in a person's life. We tell these stories with the utmost respect to the victims, their families, the communities, and the people associated with the case.

  • Chimayo Massacre: Moonlight
    2022/09/03

For Episode three, we continue digging into the Ricky Abeyta capital murder case tried by lifelong prosector Henry Valdez. Henry goes into the life of a prosecutor leading up to a grand jury. He was never afforded the luxury of postponing his daily duties as Chief Deputy District Attorney while building the case against Ricky. Instead, he worked early mornings, nights, and weekends, nearly “moonlighting,” to put in the work needed to prosecute Ricky. While Henry worked the case file, law enforcement explored an interesting theory about the murders.

  • Welcome to The Murder Inn
    2022/07/12

Welcome to the Murder Inn Podcast where we dig up forgotten homicide cases from rural communities, small towns, and far-off distances. Relive violent, rural, and abnormal cases with the prosecution that tried them. Your host Henry Valdez, the son of a District Attorney, grew up around a lot of murder cases, which bleed into his childhood in some strange ways.

The season kicks off with an interview of former 1st Judicial District Attorney of New Mexico, Henry Valdez, as he tells the story of the worst mass slaying in modern New Mexico history, the Chimayo Massacre. In 1991 Ricky Abeyta murdered seven victims, including two police officers and a five-month-old baby, in the rural town of Chimayo, New Mexico.

The case rattled the rural community, reshaped Northern New Mexico history, and tested Henry R. Valdez as a prosecutor as he pursued the death penalty for Ricky Abeyta.
