  • Episode 274: Juventus are out of the Coppa Italia
    2025/03/03
For the second straight week, Juventus were ousted from a knockout competition. But unlike last week in the Champions League, Juve’s elimination from the Coppa Italia came at the hands of a truly bad squad who were very much uninterested in actually thinking they had a chance prior to kickoff. • Episode 272: Juventus get big wins over Inter and PSV Eindhoven
    2025/02/17
It turned out to be a very important week for Thiago Motta and Juventus, capped with Sunday night’s win over Inter in the Derby d’Italia at the Allianz Stadium. On Episode 272 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from the Juventus week that was. That week came to a thrilling conclusion with Sunday night’s Derby d’Italia win over Inter Milan in Turin. It was quite the exciting victory! It was also a win in which Juventus didn’t play well in the first half yet came out a totally different team out of halftime. That allowed them to take advantage of Inter being off their game, and recording a much-needed win over the reigning Serie A champions. That Randal Kolo Muani assist sure was pretty, wasn’t it? On the European stage. Juve have a very big trip to the Netherlands on Wednesday night, where they will look hold onto their aggregate lead and advance to the Champions League Round of 16 in the second leg of their play-off tie against PSV Eindhoven. Social media questions — including the chances of Juventus signing Randal Kolo Muani and Renato Veiga on a more permanent basis over the summer and, in light of one of the crew member’s previous tweets about his favorite American football team, what some of our coldest takes about Juventus are. • Episode 271: Is Randal Kolo Muani already Juve’s greatest striker ever?
    2025/02/10
Kolo Muani, who arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January, has scored five goals in his first three games with Juventus and making things rather interesting considering the regular starter up front is very much not in the same kind of form as the 26-year-old Frenchman. On Episode 271 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from the Juventus week that was. Randal Kolo Muani has been with Juve for three games. He’s scored five goals in those three games. Does that make him the best Juventus striker ever? In all seriousness, Kolo Muani’s impact has certainly brought a different dynamic up front compared to Juve’s previous lack of alternatives to Dusan Vlahovic. Thoughts on Juventus’ win over Como and just why they struggled for much of the game against a team that is just above the relegation zone. Social media questions — including thoughts on potentially making Kolo Muani a permanent member of Juventus’ roster, what to do with Vlahovic if that does happen, why Juve’s defense continuously struggles to hold onto a lead, how much more faith should be given to Teun Koopmeiners amidst his struggles, and if the switch in Juve’s philosophy actually make sense. • Episode 268: Juventus come to life to beat Milan
    2025/01/20
Thiago Motta’s Juventus finally came to life in full over the weekend, putting forward one of their best performances of the season in a much-needed win over rival AC Milan to hopefully ease some of the pressure on the young squad. On Episode 268 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from Juventus’ week that was and big win over AC Milan on Saturday night. Juventus played damn well against Milan on the way to their first win Serie A in a month. So what went right for Thiago Motta and his squad? Here’s something that went right: The brand of football that Motta implemented at Bologna last season was very much on display for his Juventus against Milan. It was quite nice. So now, Juventus need to keep the Mottaball good vibes going, right? (Yes, of course!) It is the middle of January and Juventus are very much seeing the transfer rumors increase both in terms of incoming and some surprising potential outgoings. We discuss rumors involving Randal Kolo Muani, Andrea Cambiaso (!!) and more.
