Former Phillies closer Billy Wagner learned on Tuesday night that he has been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.

It was a long time coming.

We had Wagner on the show in late December, and he talked about the long, often torturous march toward baseball immortality. So, it was great to see Wagner finally get the call. We talk about Wagner’s enshrinement, plus the chances for Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins and Bobby Abreu. No question Utley is on the best track.

In less than a month, Phillies fans will see Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola and Ranger Suárez back on the mound, throwing bullpen sessions at Carpenter Complex in Clearwater, Fla.

Everybody is in a good mood today following the Eagles’ victory over Green Bay.

New Phillies left fielder Max Kepler was upbeat last week when he talked about his upcoming season. The Phils signed Kepler to a one-year, $10 million contract in December. He will be their everyday left fielder. If Kepler is healthy, the Phils should see a boost in left. If not, it could be a problem. We reacted to Kepler’s comments about his health, joining a new team and more.

We also reacted to Jeff Hoffman’s three-year, $33 million contract with the Blue Jays. Hoffman revamped his career in Philly, but it was clear he wasn’t returning with the Phillies focused on players on one-year contracts.
