  • EP239: The Human Skills (5): Vulnerability & Courage
    2026/08/10

I'm back with the fifth installment of the Human Skills series, and this time I'm pairing two skills that really work hand in hand: vulnerability and courage.

I break down what each one actually means, why they matter so much for building trust on your team, and the common barriers that keep so many leaders from leaning into them — things like armor, perfectionism, and the stories we make up in our heads.

I also walk through how vulnerability and courage show up differently depending on your Insights Discovery color energy, and I leave you with a simple challenge for the week: one honest thing said out loud, and one avoided action taken.

    Enjoy!

  • EP238: The Human Skills (4): Empathy & Compassion
    2026/08/03

We're four episodes into our Human Skills series. In this episode - I'm tackling two skills at once because they're so deeply connected: empathy and compassion.

Empathy gets written off as touchy-feely, but it's actually the foundation of psychological safety, trust, and real connection with your team. Compassion takes it a step further - it's empathy plus action. I walk you through what each one actually is (and isn't), how to practice them without burning out, and what the watch-outs are for each Insights Discovery color energy.

If you've ever wondered why some leaders feel present and others feel like they're just nodding along, this episode is for you.

    Enjoy!

  • EP237: The Human Skills (3): Curiosity
    2026/07/27

This is the third episode in the series about the Human Skills series, and this week I'm digging into curiosity - one of the most powerful (and most underused) leadership skills there is.

I share why our brains default to certainty over curiosity, what that costs us with our teams, and two real stories that show exactly how a single curious question can change the outcome of a conflict or a conversation. I also break down how curiosity shows up differently depending on your Insights Discovery color energy, and the three directions curiosity needs to flow: toward yourself, toward others, and toward the problems in front of you.

If you've ever caught yourself writing someone's story before you actually asked them, this one's for you.

    Enjoy!

  • EP236: The Human Skills (2): Mind-Management
    2026/07/20

We're continuing our series, The Human Skills, and this week we're digging into skill number two: mind management.

Here's the core idea - your thoughts aren't facts, they're a lens. And that lens shapes everything: your feelings, your actions, and ultimately your results. I walk you through The Model (circumstance → thought → feeling → action → result) with a real leadership example, then we get into limiting beliefs - where they come from, why smart, capable leaders run on them anyway, and how to actually reprogram them with a "bridge thought" you can believe.

I also share how reprogramming looks different depending on your Insights Discovery color energy, plus five common limiting mindsets (imposter syndrome, comparison, self-criticism, people-pleasing, and more) with simple reframes for each.

This one's quick and ends with a challenge you can try this week. You don't have to believe every thought you think!

  • EP235: The Human Skills (1): Self-Awareness
    2026/07/13

Over the next eight episodes, we're diving into The Human Skills, the abilities that separate good leaders from truly great ones. Not soft skills - but human skills. And we're starting at the root of it all: self-awareness.

I call it the pixie dust of leadership because it's where everything else begins - your EQ, your impact, your growth. In this episode, I unpack what self-awareness really is (and isn't), why so many leaders think they have it when they don't, the real cost of leading on autopilot, and how you actually build this skill over time. It's not a one-and-done assessment you take and shelve. It's ongoing, it's constant, and it's worth it.

If you've never made time for this work, this episode is your invitation. You are the magic. ✨

  • EP234: The Inside Work of Impactful Leadership
    2026/07/06

What if the most powerful leadership work you'll ever do is the work nobody sees?

In this episode, I'm using Elsa from Frozen as our guide - and not for the reasons you might think. It's not the ice palace or the magic - but it's when Elsa goes to the top of the mountain. That quiet, private, uncomfortable space where she finally stops concealing and starts becoming.

So many of us are doing inside work - but it's the wrong kind. We spend enormous energy managing everyone else's perception of us instead of investing in actually knowing ourselves. That's the "conceal, don't feel" trap, and it's exhausting.

I talk about what it really means to do the right inside work - the kind that builds your character, fuels your confidence, and eventually shows up in how you lead, even when no one can see where it came from.

Don't undervalue the little moments. They're where the magic lives.

  • EP233: Leadership Doesn't Happen All at Once - Lessons from 30 Years of Toy Story
    2026/06/29

I just saw the the recent release of the PIxar movie, Toy Story 5 - and I couldn't stop making leadership connections (as I tend to do). In this episode, I walk through all five Toy Story films and trace the arc of Woody's leadership evolution from ego-driven insecurity in 1995 to quietly showing up without needing the spotlight in 2026. Along the way, I share where I was in my own life and career at the release of each movie, because leadership development isn't a moment - it's a journey that unfolds over decades.

Whether you've seen every film or none of them, this episode is really about you: your growth, your identity shifts, your releases, and the chapters you've opened and closed.

    Enjoy!

  • EP232: The Leadership Wisdom 18-Year-Olds Didn't Know They Had
    2026/06/22

I was not expecting a leadership masterclass at my daughter's high school graduation...but that's exactly what I got! Three student speakers took the stage and delivered some of the most honest, human leadership wisdom I've heard in a long time. In this episode, I'm walking you through three lessons from those speeches and connecting them to what I see every single day in my work with leaders.
Lesson one: try new things - readiness is largely a myth, and you build the skill by doing the thing, not by waiting until you're ready.
Lesson two: success is not a solo sport - the goal was never to win by yourself, and if you want a support system, you have to be one first.
Lesson three: love the process - even the boring days, the hard days, the in-between days, because those are the ones that add up.

These aren't new concepts. But sometimes the truth lands differently when it comes from someone who hasn't had time to overcomplicate it yet.

    Enjoy!
