As we discussed in the last episode, we determined it would be extremely difficult to continue forward with the Smorgasbord Radio Show in its current form following the passing of co-founder Dave Jackson earlier this year. Have no dispair though, because Chris and Jerry will be launching a new podcast in early 2025.

In order to finish this podcast series properly, it only felt right to return to how it started in January 2010 - with Chris and his daughter Ally teaming up on the mic. In this final episode, Chris and Ally discuss all the life stages we have moved through and the milestones that we have achieved over these past 15 years. A lot of ground was covered during this time. After all, Ally was only 11 when we started the show and now she is only a couple weeks away from closing on her first home. We reflect upon how the podcast format began and all the challenges and learnings that we faced as we tried to get the show off the ground with the relatively primitive technology. From our first episode recorded in our kitchen, to seeing the show evolve over the next 15 years, we believe we hit all of the main highlights in our retrospective.

As mentioned in the show, we reserve the right to occasionally add an episode here and there to the catalog, but this episode essentially marks the end of our 42 year run (15 years in podcast form and the years 1982-1984 when the Chris and Dave Smorgasbord was heard on high school radio station WDGC-FM). We would like to thank everyone who has been on this journey with us at one point in our timeline or another. We certainly had fun bringing our creativity to you and we appreciate all your support and encouragement over the years.

It truly has been a great run!

    2024/09/14

Chris and Jerry reflect back on a very difficult year and the challenges of living life in the 'new normal'. • 176. A Hole in Our Niche: A Tribute to Dave Continues
    2024/06/29

Chris continues solo this week looking back our our friend, blood brother and Smorgasbord Show co-founder, Dave Jackson. Dave deserves more than one episode honoring him, so we found a few additional bits from over the years to round out our tribute:

      • Palentine's Day Episode: Chris and Dave review male bonding activities and keep score of how many 'manly' activities they took part in together over the years. The results may shock you.

      • Time Magazine Telephone Marketing: Taken from the original Chris and Dave Smorgasbord radio archives from 1984, Chris and Dave re-enact actual scripts that Chris was forced to read during his very short stint as a telemarketer. This recording was on the heels of Chris being fired from his job just a few hours earlier that day.

      • Previously Un-Aired Content: Dave's feral cat story. This exchange was taken from bonus content made available only through our premium content feature of the now defunct SmorgShow Podcast app.

  • From the Archives: Paul Chris and Paul Dave
    2024/06/28

Former longtime host of WLS's ‘Drive Chicago,’ Paul Brian passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 11.

In honor of his passing, we are unearthing a rare recording of Chris and Dave from 2011 where they display their best baritone pipes to deliver this comical exchange. To give credit where credit is due, Chris and Dave 'borrowed' this concept from Chicago talk radio hosts Steve Dahl and Garry Meier who took on the names 'Paul Steve' and 'Paul Garry' and imitated Paul Bryan's deep radio voice. Chris and Dave decided to do this ad hoc recording after a special effects generator was installed in the SmorgShow studio.

As the host of the Saturday morning program “Drive Chicago” for more than 20 years on WLS-AM (890), Paul Brian took listener calls and discussed everything from hubcaps to automotive nostalgia. He stayed away from trouble shooting car problems as he wasn't good under the hood himself. His full name was Paul Brian Warhanik, but he dropped his last name for radio.

    2024/06/15

The SmorgShow Podcast crew is devastated and heartbroken over the recent passing of our brother and co-founder of the Chris and Dave Smorgasbord radio show, Dave Jackson. We took some time away these past couple of months to grieve the loss of our dear friend, but now we are back to present this loving tribute to Dave. Our show never would have been what it was without the creative collaboration and contributions that Dave made to it over the years.

In this episode we reflect on some of our best memories of Dave, and bring back some of our favorite episode clips of him.

After a much needed, but rather lengthy time away, Chris and Jerry are back for the first episode of 2024. And their return could not come any sooner! Here we are again in another election year. If recent history is any guide, we are in for some turbulent times. What will the globalists try this time? Another pandemic, a race war, power grid outages, or WWIII?

  • 172. SmorgShow Rewind: 'Letter From Cynthia'
    2023/12/08

As we close out 2023, we went deep into our vast archives and dug up this gem from 2016 when the SmorgShow Players re-enacted the 1949 radio drama, 'Letter From Cynthia'. This is the 10th installment of the SmorgShow Theater radio drama series. Unlike other timeless Christmas classics like 'A Christmas Carol' and 'It's a Wonderful Life', this one is not very well known and can easily be overlooked. This was originally aired in 'The Whistler' old-time radio drama series from so many decades ago.

Thank you to all our listeners for subscribing to our content and following us for so many years. We wish you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year! We will be back with more original content in 2024.
